I worked at Stryker as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Brilliant minds
    Innovating the healthcare industry
    Competitive salary

    Cons

Dont develop as much as they say they do
    HR has too much power
Lots of red tape, too slow to get things done

    Advice to Management

Upper ELT mgmt does not help out as much as they should with BILT leaders. Losing too many people that would make a difference and they will see the impact unfortunately

I have been working at Stryker full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The people and culture are terrific, as are the opportunities to find the right fit for each person.

    Cons

The pay for San Jose is not competitive. The dominant sales force negatively impacts the need to innovate with new product development. While they're great at bringing in and developing talented individuals, they're not always good at making them feel appreciated or retaining them.

    Advice to Management

Salaries for top talent need to be competitive.

I have been working at Stryker full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great company, people, and cutting edge technology.

    Cons

None really. Every company is going to have some little things here and there, but overall no complaints!

    Advice to Management

Continue to push the limits with developing new product and remember that it takes a team effort to be successful.

    Pros

The people are good. They screen everyone according to a personality profile so you all share certain personality traits. If you don't pass the Gallup interview, you won't get hired even with perfect qualifications.

Otherwise it is your typical large organization with its share of dysfunction, high points and shortcomings.

    Cons

They like to make a big deal about how you can move into other positions in the company unrelated to your current job, but that really depends on what the hiring manager for that position wants. They will slash your job in the name of restructuring and not offer to move you into a new one just like any other company under the sun.

    Advice to Management

Every department has tunnel vision in many divisions. Cross-functional leaders would go a long way to improving organizational interaction.

I have been working at Stryker full-time

    Pros

They have an engaged workforce and hire highly talented employees. (of course this also depends on the team you are a member of)

    Cons

The silo divisional structure creates a challenging work environment. They are starting down the path of consolidation but every new employee's first question is how can I see XXX as a consolidated view.

    Advice to Management

Consolidate reporting for advanced customer analytics

I have been working at Stryker full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work life balance, day to day flexibility, friendly co-workes, and good benefits.

    Cons

Salary is below industry standards, managers driven by Q-12, very political environment, and very political.

    Advice to Management

Employees do not feel comfortable with Q-12. Also, take a strong look at experienced engineers salaries, as they are even low for W Michigan.
