I worked at Stryker as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing company culture, like-minded coworkers with "achiever" type personalities, autonomy, amazing managers and leadership team who really live Stryker values, a lot of horizontal movement within company, great professional development opportunities for interns

    Cons

Could benefit from more interdivisional/intergroup unity

    Advice to Management

I'd like to see more communication between divisions and groups. Divisions and groups seem to face a lot of the same issues and could really learn from each other's lessons lessons learned and best practices. Keep up the great work with the top notch engineering internship program! Amazing to see so much leadership involvement and have so many opportunities to learn from senior leadership. Definitely one of the most valuable parts of the program.

    Pros

Energetic group of talented manufacturing engineers, associate managers and product engineers (mostly recent grads or interns). Quality is a priority. Hourly manufacturing support personnel are well trained with very low turnover. Well designed products.

    Cons

Lower management production positions appear to be filled with young and inexperienced individuals. Screening process selects only type A people who are focused, but do not appear to play/share well with others across departments (team environment). Due to the inexperience, attention to detail is occasionally missed and advice is sometimes ignored (my experience). As a contractor, my advise and inputs were generally ignored. Received a bad reference for unexplained reasons with no way to reconcile .

    Advice to Management

Seek input from all internal groups within each product group. Find out what is working and what is not. Focus more on Jr. management level continuous improvement.

I worked at Stryker full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you thrive in a contrived cut throat environment, this is for you.

    Cons

Culture is company above everything, your life IS the company. Burn employees out and go get more. Worst place I've ever worked. I'm not afraid of stress and long hours - my current position is just that. But it helps to work with grown adults - not people who think they are about to parachute behind the lines and engage the enemy in mortal combat. The posturing and chest thumping is a bit much to take. Sometimes it felt like a cult.

    Advice to Management

Look beyond the quarter every so often.
