I have been working at Studiocom full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Studiocom is very flat instead of hierarchical. You will often find yourself working directly with the executive team. Ideas and contribution is welcomed from all.

    Cons

Working in the Boston office a lot of meetings are done over the phone or skype. Although a con I think that this has helped me attain a lot of new communication skills that will help with working with clients globally.

    Advice to Management

Continue as the company grows to be accessible to your employees.

I have been working at Studiocom full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoy the culture and the people I work with. There is such a great team dynamic no matter which team you work with. Everyone here wants to succeed and they know that as long as individuals succeed the team will succeed. Keeping the client happy and presenting above and beyond work to the client is key at Studiocom.

    Cons

The only thing that I would suggest would be to have a play and engage room. A room where we can all getaway if we have a stress moment. Maybe go in there and paint, play a video game, etc.

    Pros

    - Downtown Atlanta location
    - Friendly working atmosphere
    - Good work-life balance (probably a little too good on the "life" side)
    - Management team is approachable & charismatic

    Cons

    - The agency struggles to match "big ideas" & "business ideas." Studiocom rarely does both at the same time. The company is either exciting and in the red, or passing mundane but profitable work to their Bogota office. In hiring situations, Studiocom will show off impressive creative work & fail to mention its profitability (or lack thereof).
    - Very poor organization. Language gaps in the ATL office. Boston office works in relative isolation.
    - Misguided business development process. The agency feels pressure to pitch a high volume of RFPs , without carving out any kind of niche or "sweet spot." The lack of focus on developing existing business has lead to unsteady client relationships (which in turn leads to unsteady employment numbers for Studiocom).
    - Below average compensation.

    Pros

Great people. Great creative. Lots of creative freedom.

    Cons

Projects felt like they could be more organized.

    Advice to Management

Don't over work you designers. Don't burn them out, they are the life line that has made Studiocom the company it is today.

    Pros

The people are very friendly and the work atmosphere is good for creativity. You can get on different brands from time to time, but the Atlanta office seems to hog the good stuff.

    Cons

They're cheap, and they like to keep it that way. They don't seem to care much about moving forward their employees careers and opening doors.

    Advice to Management

The different branches definitely need more communication. And, stop bickering. The amount of hoops everyone has to jump through to get approved is ridiculous.

    Pros

Studiocom has many skilled and creative team members. The atmosphere is very comfortable and the people there really enjoy working with each other.

    Cons

My primary criticism of Studiocom would be that it's still relatively new to the "full service" agency world. Primarily a project based creative shop until '07 Studiocom won some significant AOR accounts in '06 and early '07. The management decided they needed to offer a complete suite of services to their clients. Unfortunately the management is creative heavy with limited exposure to other practices like media or analytics. As a result investment in resources was not executed very well. There were many opportunities lost as a result of investing in areas with little growth opportunities and a lack of investing where their clients wanted more support and resources. It's a classic agency problem but caused many employees to work very long hours and under deliver to their clients. This ultimately lead to client losses.

    Advice to Management

I think the agency should consider bringing in someone at the senior management level that has broader experience in environments that provided a variety of services to their clients. Perhaps from a larger agency or consulting firm. Existing management has their strengths and do a good job when working in their areas of expertise, but require a broader vision.

    Pros

Great work environment. Great co-workers. Fairly interesting projects.

    Cons

Salaries are low in Colombia compared to what they make in the US.

    Advice to Management

I would like to see they not taking advantage of the Offshoring to pay a lot less than the US similarily ranked employees.
