heavy process, heavy hierarchical structure, no reward mechanism aside from money

    Advice to Management

stop inverted pyramid, the pyramid must be strong at the base, not the other way around

    I worked at Subsea 7 full-time

    Pros

Powerhouse company in subsea construction, great benefits, great direction and planning from upper management

    Cons

what is work life balance? no opportunity for bonuses, raises or promotion in the last few years due to market downturn

    Advice to Management

consensus within the company is that most of middle management is useless, upper management should take a good look at who they have managing their departments and how much work they actually put in.

I have been working at Subsea 7 full-time

    Pros

    - 4 weeks of PTO to start with
    - Great people
    - Great environment
    - Half day Fridays
    - Graduate program WAS outstanding while it last

    Cons

    - French/Brits involvement in GOM projects is extremely annoying
    - French/Brits have a final say, even when Houston need extra roll of paper towel in restroom
    - Extreme top heavy

    Advice to Management

    - You guys are doing exact opposite of "Make America great again"
    - Hire local, manup and learn to say NO to French/Brits
    - Give more training to your engineers
    - Cut so call "project managers"! This company has three times more of project managers to manage three times less projects.

I have been working at Subsea 7 full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This company is probably better managed (upper level) than any other company I have worked for...and there have been a lot.

    Cons

As with any large company there is a lot of beareacracy to deal with which sometimes gets in the way of getting things done. At times project managers do not accept your estimate of the time it will take to get something done and you spend hours trying to explain this but they won't take any answer but their own, and you still can't get it done in the time they gave you.

    Advice to Management

Project managers need to listen to their engineers doing the work and work with them earlier to avoid late deliveries.

I have been working at Subsea 7 full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great time off and half-day Fridays.

    Cons

Not a very good moral overall within the company, feels very much like every man for himself. No trainings being offered so you can't expand your skill set. No pay raises in YEARS even if you have a great end of year review.

    Advice to Management

Build a better moral overall with everyone not just your immediate team. See what your employees want to learn in order to grow. Give a pay raise to EVERYONE, we shouldn't have to wait years for one.
