I worked at Subway full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    As an employee:
    - Easy Job, flexible, advancement opportunity, employee discount, shifts go by fast

    As manager:
    - Opportunity to make your own schedule
    - Working the morning shifts
    - Job is easy, work load is not

    Cons

    As a manager:
    - very low pay. I was making $9.50 an hour as a manager of over 6 months and had employees making the same exact amount.(only stuck around because of the promise of a raise and the experience)

    - Heavy work load for pay. To expect the manager to be excited about $9.50 an hour to do inventory, orders, payroll, scheduling, and customer service is outrageous. These are all very basic tasks but to get paid as much as the guy next to you making subs is definitely rough.

    - The illusion of making your own schedule. They really got me when they talked it up saying "you get a raise and get to work your own schedule." I learned very quickly that this was not the case with many management jobs and especially not this one. This is a 24/7 job. On your one day off you'll get 5 calls from you employees about basic problems. A good 15 hours a week of the 37 you are required is typically going to be you running into your store after your shift to help employees for the 100th time make more bread or prep more food. This is not a problem until it becomes a constant issue.

    - Not trained how you were. Most of my employees were there for years and I assumed they would know what they were doing but boy was I wrong. Most of them weren't given the extensive training I was and because there's no training hours granted, it's impossible to train them the way you want to.

    - you smell. Literally.

    Advice to Management

Do not pay your managers the same as employees. That is disrespectful and undermining.

This is not a minimum wage job. Employees are expected a lot more out of them than any fast food restaurant I've worked in.

    I worked at Subway part-time

    Pros

When I was hired, the place needed employees really bad, so I got all the hours I wanted u to 40. I enjoyed all the free food.

    Cons

There was MOLD in the ICE MACHINE from the start of my hire, was left untouched when I left 6 months later. Subway claimed that it was Coke's job to maintain that aspect of cleanliness. Be careful, because cleanliness can be very overlooked in some Subway stores.

    Advice to Management

Provide more clear training in conflict resolution to all employees in-person, on the job, not just one time during a web training course. Get the schedule out 2 weeks before.
