I worked at Subway part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good fast pace for learning. It keeps you on your toes. You learn to deal with all kinds of customers one on one.

    Cons

Hours changed and fluctuated a lot. The employees were not carefully selected. There was a huge lack in care for employees.

    Advice to Management

It would be more beneficial for you as a Franchisee owner to be more careful about who you hire because they will day to day be the face for your store.

I worked at Subway full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Extremely laid back environment. DM was overall friendly and understanding. Excellent for getting to know customers.

    Cons

Can be very hectic at times, and generally understaffed. Stores are generally small and quite empty, so when busy noise can be overwhelming.

I worked at Subway full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People and Manager were great to work with my shift leader and the manager were the main reason I stayed for so long.

    Cons

No health insurance ,retirement plan, disability insurance, dental, optical. You were referred to the marketplace for coverage. Slow to pay for raises. Owner was oblivious of things or just didn't care. There were a few workers that were favored and treated with speciality. The other workers were just herded like cattle and treated with little respect.

    Advice to Management

Help the workers. Listen to them. Help the manager. Take on some of the responsibility too. Spread to thin.

I worked at Subway part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I got a free 6" sub for every 6 hours I worked, plus the cookie requirements are actually pretty strict so if they don't turn out well you.. get to throw out perfectly good cookies. The franchise co-owner was very personable and approachable (more on that later) and it pays well for a fast food job.

    Cons

None of the people I worked with during my brief tenure at this Subway, from the top to the bottom, could be considered professionals. My interview was constantly interrupted by the interviewer's daughter or niece and I felt like my part of the conversation was completely ignored. From my first day on the job I was constantly surrounded by conversations of personal issues, loudly and sometimes in view of customers. On one occasion, a coworker very likely faked a computer problem to avoid serving customers for nearly 45 minutes.

    Advice to Management

Stop dealing with personal business at work. Deal with work at work, or at least don't drag your subordinates into your mess.

I worked at Subway part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was very friendly and I was able to coordinate with manager to change schedules if necessary without hassle. I got a unique experience working at one with a drive thru but thanks to the second sandwich station it allowed for more area to prepare platter orders when the store got busy

    Cons

I found that the management were not very clear when it came to working at other subway locations. Often the owner had multiple subway locations and would not give very much notice when you are working at a different location. I was once told 20 minutes into my shift the drive over to the other subway to finish the rest of my shift. While I understand that they needed people at the other location, some more warning would have made my experience better.
