    Cons

There completely no accuracy to eva moskwitz when u talk to her she always corrects you and loves making a fool out of people thats what she did in 2017 when i was in the lounge room getting a drink for the meeting and when i got inside i could see eva was mumbling and gossiping to her co-worker and they both laughed at me and when everyone saw that it was me she was talking about they started to giggle too and and at...

    Pros

Strong community. Great resources to perform efficient work.

    Cons

Absolutely no work life balance. Ten hour days with no lunch break. Cult like figure as a CEO. Little room for creativity or individuality.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your team. Coordinate breaks for team members.

I worked at Success Academy Charter Schools full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Because they are swimming in corporate donor money, there are teacher supplies readily available.

    Cons

I lasted through about a month of training here before I walked out - being told that having, essentially, a minor panic attack during a training session was unacceptable and that my "leader" didn't have time for "emotions." The way I was treated is honestly just the tip of the iceberg. The culture is extremely punitive, even draconian, for both adults and children. Kids at the elementary school level are automatically...

I worked at Success Academy Charter Schools full-time for more than a year

      Pros

      * The kids! * Experience * Fellow teachers were great * OPS team was great * Generally promotes from within (but only if you're "bought in" on the way things run at SA)

      Cons

Where do I begin? * Only job where my bosses have screamed at employees. * Forced teachers (myself included) to teach content outside of their own education. * Leadership blatantly favored some teachers AND STUDENTS over others. * Long hours * Job description? HAHAHA * Leadership consistently threatened to fire teachers. * Leadership walked around unchecked, creating a hostile work environment. * Way too much...

      Advice to Management

*Educate beyond test prep, period. *If you won't allow your teachers to unionize, provide a Human Resources specialist in each school so that leadership can be held accountable for the way they treat employees. *Do not force teachers to teach outside of their specialty. *Start treating your teachers AND STUDENTS with dignity.

I worked at Success Academy Charter Schools full-time for more than a year

      Pros

-schools are very clean and technologically advanced -staff got lots of basic incentives (apparel, snacks)

      Cons

-“gotcha” culture is very prevalent. You will get written up for anything and everything. There is never any room for error. -Do not expect to be praised for working hard. -A lot of favoritism and politics runs this place. School principals have absolute control over your fate -There is no union -Days are very long and you do not get compensated for overtime -very inexperienced management and teachers. Professional...

      Advice to Management

Please do yourselves a favor and revise your mission and vision. Running schools like corporations is inhumane. It’s concerning how when policies and situations make it to the media, the person in the role gets thrown under the bus and the situation gets covered up to protect the company. Just google “Candido Brown”. This man has a senior level position even after all the outrage surrounding what he did - which is enforce...

I have been working at Success Academy Charter Schools full-time for less than a year

      Pros

There are no pros to working here.

      Cons

We often worked over ten hours and were highly discouraged from taking breaks and lunch. There was also a highly conpetative and arrogant nature in the school within the management and two returning teachers. The retention rates in all their schools are extremely low because they over work their teachers with what is misleadingly good compensation. For the hours you work you are being paid minimum wage to be a robot teacher...

I worked at Success Academy Charter Schools full-time for less than a year

      Pros

The bathrooms in the Network office are nice, albeit cold. And as with any company, you meet some people who end up becoming close friends.

      Cons

I felt from Day 1, Orientation, that the culture was odd. The way HR spoke to us sounded patronizing and like we were in school. And maybe it was the literal tone of how orientation started that all the new hires were raising their hands in order to be given permission to speak. I was confused. Were we not adults? Were we back in school? Even in college seminars, we were given the respect to know how to speak in turn......

      Advice to Management

      1) Please stop say "SA lingo" when it's grammatically and syntactically incorrect. Why do you require applicants to be college graduates if you're going to dismiss any knowledge on behalf of the CEO's preferences for phrases? 2) Try to care a little about what's actually going on. If you continue to believe that your managers are actually leading a happy village of people, then that is proof you don't want to care or...
