SF is a young company that is changing the world! There is so much to do and learn, great teamwork, and the sense that there is so much more on the horizon. The work is hard, but the work environment is flexible. After over 25 years in the valley, SF employees are the easiest to work with I have ever met. No A**HOLES

    Cons

Growing pains, need to grow infrastructure, evolution of rewards programs, increased management approval discretion

    Advice to Management

Keep reaching out to employees, and staying connected!

    Pros

Awesome solution, great management, complete visibility, no games/politics. On top of that, the solution actually delivers the value that is promised to customers during the sales cycle, very refreshing - compared to most other solutions that over promise and under deliver.

    Cons

Not enough time to help all the companies that need the solution. Most companies think that they have solved the performance management business process, but in reality, they have just build a few silos around the process. When done right, this process can really help a company connect it's strategy to it's day to day operations. Really great solution that actually works as advetised.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great job, you are a living proof that companies can be a great place to work. The communication is open, direct and frequent.

    Pros

The best reasons to work for SuccessFactors are the people, the products, and the company's reputation in the marketplace. In most cases, people are very willing to share information and support each other in their work efforts. The no a**holes policy is refreshing (although there seem to be a few people who aren't required to abide by that policy). SFSF has a great customer list and most customers are quite satisfied with the products and services provided by SuccessFactors. There have been plenty of opportunties for career advancement (up until the recent layoffs). If SuccessFactors can weather the economical storm it will likely become a great place to work again.

    Cons

People are given management titles yet most managers have little or no authority to run their businesses. Decisions are made that impact managers and their teams yet the managers themselves have little say in the matter. There is WAY TOO MUCH micro-management from upper management. The quality of talent at SFSF is remarkably high (MBA's, PhD's)yet often people have to account for the most ridiculous things. SFSF is a pay-for-performance company so one of the key tasks is setting and achieving specific goals each year. However, some of those goals are set by position/title and aren't within the individual's direct control (as to whether or not they can achieve them).

    Advice to Management

You hired incredibly talented people into this organization, treat them as such! Give them the authority to manage their businesses and their teams, Stop micro-managing every single task, every penny, etc. Involve your employees in other cost-cutting strategies that could have otherwise saved jobs.

    Pros

This company has very talented people, great solutions, and truly offers a pay for performance environment. It's a great environment for collaboration of ideas, and everyone has a voice and is encouraged to provide honest feedback on company processes which encourages positive change and development. Also, top performers are rewarded on real performance!

    Cons

While I personally did not feel this as a negative, you must be an independent person with lots of intitiative to come here and be successful. Onboarding and initial training could be improved so expect to seek support and be aggressive in leveraging resources to help you.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to you employees as they are the future of this company and really be sure to understand their needs. Continued focus on employee career development within the organization will be key to maintaining your top performers that will ultimately determine the top and bottom line growth of the company! Also, set reachable goals for your employees. It's discouraging for Top performers to still come up short on their goal. This is an area that has been improved and needs to be monitored closely.
