I have been working at Summa Health System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very reliable steady income, offers several training opportunities for employees free of charge, employee discount programs with some other companies like Dell that could be convenient, reputable company that other employers like to see on your resume.

    Cons

To advance within the company, there is a hierarchical system for being approved for other positions. If your boss decides they don't like you then your out of luck. There are so many positions you could qualify for but never receive an interview if your manager is not cooperative with HR.

    Advice to Management

Create a system for internal advancement where employees can go around possibly unfair and bitter management holding them back.

    Pros

good co workers and big company that is fair with employees and consistent with salary and amount of time you have been a RN

    Cons

need a 4 year degree to advance due to magna status, does not count with years of being a nurse.

    Advice to Management

consider promoting nurses who are able to do the job and consider the experience of the nurse.

Great team, fun and rewarding job, interesting work! I thoroughly enjoy my job, and I learn a lot every shift!

I have been working at Summa Health System part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, can write my own schedule, fair holiday scheduling, awesome boss, helpful co-workers, and payroll deduct available for the cafeteria, health insurance, union, 401k

    Cons

Some rude doctors, outdated computer system (which is changing soon anyway), old dusty work environment, a few too many people with an "I don't care" attitude, very limited health insurance options, and it seems like a lot of services provided are being moved to the city campus

    Advice to Management

Really, nothing. I wish my boss had an assistant because she does so much!

I have been working at Summa Health System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The ability to help patients was very rewarding. The team work of the staff made the patients feel comfortable and let them know they were in good hands.

    Cons

The only con was while working in the Oncology Department, was seeing patients lose the battle of fighting their disease

    Advice to Management

    Implement ideas employees have

I worked at Summa Health System as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

During the day, you will be able to meet many different personalities. Some residents/patients can be the same from day to day but often you see different people coming and in out of those halls.

    Cons

I personally was not there long enough to experience the downside of the job environment. But every environment comes with a price especially if you are balancing work along with school and normal every day life.

    Advice to Management

I personally never talked to upper management but the human resource manager I did know was good. The manner of speech was excellent. Advice is probably having professional yet personal talking is good to have.
