    Pros

    SHG is a small company, so it is very easy to be a big fish in a small pond. Hard work is recognized by local as well as corporate management team. Overall culture within the company is very positive and team-based environment. Hotels go above and beyond to provide excellent service to guests, which makes job as a sales person much easier. Employees under mid level managers are not micromanaged at all.

    Cons

    Benefits and pay are sub-par compared to the industry standards. No opportunities for advancement are provided at any level of the organization. Company ownership does not know what it is doing, and tries to micro-manage every decision that gets made by GMs and DOSs.

    Advice to Management

    You hire good leaders - let them do their job without looking over their shoulder! Provide more opportunities for advancement for the employees who show potential so you do not lose them. Stop acting like every time an employee leaves your company it is a personal insult - people need to continue to advance, and if SHG can't provide that, they will look elsewhere.

    Pros

    Co workers are mostly nice and friendly. Team work, flexible schedule

    Cons

    Benefits are unacceptable. Some people from sales department act like they are VIP. Company is so cheap.....it is next to impossible to get higher pay rate or get promoted

    Longevity is there if you work hard. Company matches a portion of IRA.

    Cons

    Owners and upper management seem to pick favorites and advance them sooner than other, much more qualified employees.

    Get to know your employees and improve your attitude. Increase salaries in line with your competitors.

    Many coworkers and managers are great people.

    Cons

    Pay is very low nearly impossible to make a living on hourly salary.

    Advice to Management

    Employees are very loyal, but resentful. They are tired, don't get acknowledged for their hard work, and can't survive of your low wages.

    Treat your employees better, better pay and better benefits!
