I have been working at Sun Hydraulics full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great retirement/401k employer matched contributions, opportunity to purchase company shares. Very clean facility. Great vision and future goals.

    Cons

Opportunity for advancement and pay rises are determined by extreme favoritism-not skills, experience, performance or work ethic.
Very poor communication and inability to make decisions from facility managers, relying on personal opinions of friends rather that facts. Infomation outside of chosen circles is largely ignored for months until the idea is regurgitated by the inner circle.
Not enough workers to perform work forcing mandatory overtime. (Every saturday) which is unpaid for salaried workers, and ends up not being much for hourly as the amount changes the taxes.
    Poor moral among workers.

    Advice to Management

A clean sweep of production managers and replacing with outsiders would be more effective in acheiving the vision of the CEO. The opportunity for success would be tremendous with experienced managers rather than those put in senior positions by friends.

I have been working at Sun Hydraulics (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You can wear headphones, play with your smartphones, play video games on company office terminals and help yourself to all the coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cream you want all day and not get anything done. There's a full time masseuse to give everyone a massage on company time. It's a very very extremely laid back environment. Oh, it's a dream literally, yes really, dreams... because we all take naps all day at work.

    Cons

This company is losing money fast and long time employees do not want to hustle and get those orders out. Their operating budget is greater than what they're making in profit margin after revenues. This company is set to go bankrupt soon.

    Advice to Management

The companies I've worked for have a employee policy in place. If those earphones and/or cellphones come out, if you play on company terminals on desk, if you don't do your job and hustle or if you're ever caught napping on the job, your employment will terminate immediately without delay. Rightly so because all those time wasters is what they are: A waste of company time and manpower resources, which is a crime on the accounting books alone.

There should be no free coffee, tea, cream and hot chocolate at all. It's a very expensive company perk. That's irresponsible company operating expense.

If employees gets massages from work on their shift: THAT'S COMPANY TIME to everyone looking in. Fooling around, getting soft on the job, and not getting anything done cannot to be tolerated if you want to survive in this hard economic times.

    Good luck.

    Pros

The sky is the limit at Sun. They recognize employees not only for the work they do, but also for the impact they have on their coworkers. Leaders are very trusting in their employees, so employees can tackle projects in which they are interested. Employees are friends in and out of work.

    Cons

Some areas at Sun run somewhat lean, so employees are very busy. Not necessarily a con if you like to keep busy.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what your doing!
