    Pros

    Independent
If you are a sales person, this is for you

    Cons

    Have to chase leads.
    Commission based
Company doesn't provide many leads even though they tell you they will be giving you a lot at the interview time.
The management will say anything to get you in the door.

    Advice to Management

    Be honest
Work with your advisors to understand their needs

I worked at Sun Life full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Teaches you how to be independent and makes you work hard and discover what you really want out of life.

    Cons

Incredibly difficult and not the most ideal for a new graduate with little real-life work experience.

    Advice to Management

It is not a good idea to ramp people up as quickly as possible. If you do not provide a decent support system especially in early development, you run the risk of deterring solid, decent and honest salespeople from the industry.

I have been working at Sun Life full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility about the only positive. Decent pay!

    Cons

Have to pay for everything office, internet, any marketing material even the labtop they make you get then tell you you need to pay for it.
Manager always questioning you and coming at you. Only happy with you on the day you sell something, then back to questioning you. They only get paid from the advisor sales.
I am non occupant of the Financial Centre and they expect me to drive over 200km there and back twice a week for a 30 minute meeting. Waste of Time!!!!

    Advice to Management

Managers defiantly sold me on this job. They left some things out in the process and told me about it last minute when we were already to far along.

I worked at Sun Life (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibility. Great opportunity if you are dedicated and self-motivated. Great earning potential if you put in the work.

    Cons

Lack of motivation and guidance from senior advisors and management team. Seems they are only on your side when you are bringing in the money. It can take a while to become comfortable in the roll if you do not hit the ground running with some good clients. They money will come but you have to be prepared to weather the storm for the first few years.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to developing young talent instead of letting them fail and absorbing their book into the company inventory. In lieu of bonuses and incentives for the top sales staff, invest more into training staff.
