    Pros

Work life balance- sun supports working from home, although this is very much abused by employees. We called it the "Don't work from home" program.

    Cons

Sun has been performing poorly for seven plus years. Management has continued to under perform. I found that most of the talent has left Sun and the people that are left, simply aren't motivated. Most people are there to collect a paycheck.

    Advice to Management

Hire someone from the outside to take sun over and try to change things.

    Pros

Sun is a great engineering and technology company. If you are an Engineer without too much desire in promotion, join this company. It treats engineers well. Of course, I don't think there will be more opportunities now with Sun. Also, very beautiful campus in Santa Clara.

    Cons

I don't understand how this company is run / operated. I have no idea how good or bad the senior management is due to lack of direct interaction, but the mid management is terrible as I can feel from my own experience. This company should've already been out of business years ago (latest by 2005) but I guess the sale of real estates / properties to some extent supported the life. Also a lot of good politics players. Terrible operations.

    Advice to Management

I think I offered some recommendations and nobody really cared about. Nobody would rebell from within (to overturn himself when he is in a ruling position? no way) and only thing that could change this company is some external force - like an acquisition that is taking place now. I foresaw this long time before the official announcement of acquisition.

    Pros

The work culture can be pretty casual and open. Hours are flexible.

    Cons

Managers can be tyrannic, ad-hoc, and downright prejudiced/ hostile. There are no internal checks and balances to avoid this. You are fine so long as you are in the good books of your manager. Performance and personal achievements are secondary.

    Advice to Management

There is no leadership any more. Sunset.

    Pros

Endlich hat Sun wieder ein gutes Portfolio.

    Cons

    Advice to Management
