I worked at Sun Products Corporation (More than a year)

    Pros

Several opportunities to influence my internal teams both formally and informally as processes undergo consistent change; ability to help design the role.

    Cons

Extremely poor work-life balance, and my director often called out the wrong person in cross-functional meetings to compliment and reprimand/ critique. Changed label claims as often as possible, not realizing the true cost.

    Advice to Management

Close the door when you want to call out an issue with someone's work, and this will be the best place to find out you may be talking to the wrong person.

I have been working at Sun Products Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Founded from Entrepreneurial spirit of Huish
Small company competing against enormous competitors
    Nice offices
    Free coffee
    Discount coupon for laundry detergent

    Cons

Management by fear and extreme micromanaging by executives leads to workforce that is paranoid and inefficient. Private Equity casts a big shadow. Hopefully Henkel will bring some balance and control to the organization.

    Advice to Management

    Trust your people

I worked at Sun Products Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Enjoyed the type and amount of work, Working with management or others in productive, pro company people is great.

    Cons

Too many uneducated chiefs that treat the hard workers as worthless and the lazy, social people as gold. Closing plants, farming out the warehouse jobs to other companies. Corporate is too far to be actively involved with real work.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and look for the best for the company. Lead from the front and be willing to recognize the hard workers and let go of the friends or ones who kiss up.

    Pros

The Sun Products Corporation has a good line and variety of products that should be very appealing to the consumer.

    Cons

The Sun Products Corporation has fierce competitors with deep pockets that could slowly drive them out of business and/or diminish their gross margins.

I have been working at Sun Products Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's only by the grace of god this place stays in business , especially the bowling green kentucky facility

    Cons

The job is not worth the money that they pay you, management keeps adding more job responsibilities without increasing your pay

    Advice to Management

They really need to evaluate their value stream managers , you've placed people in certain positions that don't have a clue of what their doing

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Sun Products Corporation full-time

    Pros

    Some good coworkers
    So-so compensation
It says I have to enter more words here, but this place really is that terrible.

    Cons

Total lack of communication between shifts, departments, and through chain of command
Drag their feet on reviews and raises
Management expects you to come to reviews and beg for a raise even if you've been an amazing employee
Fill you full of empty promises like lead positions, tuition reimbursement (they won't approve), steady schedules, etc
Setup crew works insane amounts of hours and can be called in an hour before they're expected to be there (schedule states Mon-Fri, 8 hours/day, but that's really an absolute minimum; 12 hour shifts and weekends are the norm)
Setup crew can be told to be there, show up, then be told to go home
Setup crew is always considered the go-to guys for anything and everything, but they're paid the same as any other mechanic
Lots of two-faced management, people throwing others under the bus
People are given lead and management positions based on who their friends are and how well they talk instead of their ability and skill
Equipment is old, filthy, and poorly maintained due to production pushing to always have it running instead of fixing problems the right way
If a setup mechanic is unable to come to work on a weekend, even though their schedule is Mon-Fri, they're expected to use PTO (mandatory overtime without notice)
Other people take credit for work done
Certain leads spend their time playing online or otherwise being useless, dodging their bosses
Bonus and other things that used to make it a good workplace have been taken away or cut down drastically (all while they post flyers about how much money the company saved last year, year-to-date, etc)

    Advice to Management

Communicate. Care about the employees. Let people who actually see the work being done judge what raises and promotions are given. Allow good ideas to be recognized instead of denying them because they aren't yours. Schedule setup crew with some consideration for their families and health.
