    Pros

It's a good opportunity for me to work for AIG - SunAmerica Financial Group

    Cons

It's a bad luck for me AIG - SunAmerica Financial Group laid off with two months notice to minimize the expenses about one billion dollars

    Advice to Management

Bring back to the original status soon

I have been working at SunAmerica Financial Group full-time

    Pros

Terrific benefits, paid time off, and vacations. The management staff for the most part is extremely lax and understanding as long as the work is completed. Once you're in a position, no matter how horrible you are at the job, most managers will keep you hired. This is a plus for people who are lazy and generally unskilled, but horrible for those in the department that want to help improve the customer experience.

    Cons

Leadership issues in certian departments, lots of politics, odd review process. Management has a tendancy to take ideas and implement full procedural changes as if they were their own. Because the benefits are so awesome, the pay is below average unless you are friends with the manager in charge of justifying inflating your salary.

I have been working at SunAmerica Financial Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

SunAmerica Mutual Funds is a great company to work for. As a subsidiary of AIG, they have exceptional benefits and provide the best resources for their employees. A small- to mid-sized mutual fund company, SunAmerica offers strategic investment opportunities. Learning "the trade" has been a challenge, but well worth it.

    Cons

Two cons: management is a top-heavy {as it is with other places, too...} and there is no such thing as work/life balance. To work from home, one must finagle a shady deal. It's disappointing in this current age of technology.

    Advice to Management

Definitely re-visit the option to work from home. Working a 10+ hour day in the office doesn't make for a happy life.

"Completely dysfunctional transformational mess from AIG being pushed down to the subsidiaries to meet corporate goals."

I worked at SunAmerica Financial Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fair compensation and benefits package - unusually generous for senior level executives.

    Cons

Ridiculous hours - unrelenting and ridiculous deadlines pushed down from AIG with unrealistic expectations on delivery times. AIG Corporate has no patience for or understanding of the impact of these demands on people's day to day lives and ability to do their job (nor do they care).

    Advice to Management

Get an understanding of how dysfunctional the Corporate Culture is and the ludicrous amount of change expected to occur simultaneously (without causing disruption to the businesses). Figure out why the Life and Retirement business have required multiple reorganizations in the last 2 years and fix it. The officers look at the mess and it is classic ready fire aim - oopps try again.

I have been working at SunAmerica Financial Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The company is growing and expanding its product line. It is also a player in the mutual fund industry so there is a good chance to learn the business from one of the best. Always new projects to work on.

    Cons

Not a great place for work/life balance. They have trimmed a lot of staff so everyone is pulling a lot of work.

    Pros

Job allows you to set your own schedule and be independent. In the right environment the company and its products can be fairly strong.

    Cons

Compensation was constantly cut. Over 60% in the time I was with the company. 5+ years. Also the company didn't evolve quickly enough. They kept older products with higher margins in place which ended up costing the company MANY large accounts and untold amounts of assets lost.

    Advice to Management

Not much to say now. The entire company and business model has been changed since I left. Wish it would have been sooner. Many good accounts and financial advisors would still be with the company.
