    Pros

    Location - DT, It's a paycheck

    Cons

    IF you are seeking an atmosphere of low morale, low pay increases and horrible upper management, this is the place for you. The management is rude, at times nasty, to the employees and never listens to anything you say. The backstabbing is constant and you will be thrown under the bus at every turn. The software is faulty and project management takes no responsibility. The name FIS is being used because Sungard has such a bad reputation in the industry. They training is minimal and most of the office is from India. Wish I could leave the 3 years working there off of my resume'! Worst place I've ever worked in my life.RUN!!

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of the upper management. It's a cancer you can't afford.

    Pros

    It is interesting work and some of the co-workers were wonderful people.

    Cons

    They will fire soon-to-be parents as adoption or birth nears and make up stories about why they were fired. They will not adhere to FMLA requests. They also do not adhere to reasonable accommodation plans and bully vulnerable employees into signing false appraisals and evaluations.

    They do not allow the employee to add their own statements to write-ups that might refute what the manager/supervisor is reporting and refuse to check computer logs to verify computer use.

    When records are requested after leaving, they conveniently leave out any reference to your disabilities or the fact that you had a reasonable accommodation plan. They falsify records and performance appraisals.

    There is also a major issue with discrimination against males at their Chico, CA office. Apparently we aren't allowed to take time off to care for our families, that's what wives are for.

    Advice to Management

    Hire supervisors with higher quality morals and ethics. Preferably someone with managerial experience who is actually willing to take the time to train employees. Educate your HR staff about ADA and FMLA.

    Pros

    Unsure really but would suggest that with their many office locations you are afforded physical relocation opportunities if that is your interest.

    Cons

    -Lack of business landscape awareness; competitors constantly improving products whereas SunGard only will improve a product when it has already lost customers to a competitor.
    -Complete resistance to change; "we've always done it this way so that's how we will continue."
    -Oftentimes a complete disconnect by employees as to where their paycheck comes from which is satisfied clients. SunGard needs clients, clients do not need SunGard.

    Advice to Management

    Strive to bring in people that are open and willing to change the environment for the good of the company/clients. Staus quo has hurt SunGard over the years and needs to be shown the door.

    Pros

    They pay money if you work there.
    Supposedly a good place to work if you're in sales, as long as you don't mind having the same fight about your ballooning quota and shrinking territory every year.
    SunGard is no more, now part of FIS

    Cons

    So difficult to get management to compensate high performers at a market rate (experienced this personally and as a manager of a team that outperformed against annual goals).
    Management had a knack for sapping the joy out of work by continually downgrading perks and never ending cost cutting.
    There was management, but no leadership. Lots of talk that doesn't mean anything ("this is a journey"). Lots of management by spreadsheets.
    Group Executives don't fully understand what the business units under them do because SunGard grew by acquiring so many different businesses and then continuously moving them around.

    Advice to Management

    To FIS management: good luck with all that. The previous PE owners acted like a chop shop to extract value out of the business in every way possible, but there are some good people still left.

    Pros

    It is one of the few HP NonStop (Tandem) companies left in the North East so if you want to play on the NonStop's this is a place you can do that.

    Cons

    No work life balance, horrible moral, They don't want creativity they simply buy companies to add products to there line. Management does not know how to empower there employees, only tell them what to do and with hold information. It's a "there way" or "the high way" kind of place, If they don't like you they will set you up then go for the kill.

    Advice to Management

    Take a good hard look at how other companies operate and start adopting a more modern approach to running a software company.

    Great organic learning experience primarily to observe what works and what clearly doesn't
    Somewhat flex work from home

    Cons

    Poor onsite infrastructure for employees
    Frequent client facing embarrassing moments
    Lack of formal training business and tech
    Culture of stress overload due to lack of foresight and unrealistic expectations

    Pros

    Nice view, telework, free lunches every 3 months or so.

    Cons

    EVP is horrible, frequent layoffs, stressful environment, long hours,, poor pay.

    Advice to Management

    Send the UK staff back to the UK.

    I can't think of any. The entire time was a mess, from day one no one provides any direction even to the small things like office space and computer.

    Cons

    This is a horrible place to work. They're extremely disorganized, unprofessional and lacking knowledge. They have an extremely high turnover rate because they mislead the potential hires about the company. Complete waste of time, save yourself and walk away.

    Advice to Management

    The management team in every department, especially brokerage, are a disaster. They don't understand the business and their lack of knowledge has a direct effect on employee success. Hire new management.

    Software provider with a global presence
    Major clients with high bill rates

    Cons

    Lack of solid processes inline with industry standards
    Latest and greatest technology tools aren't in use
    20 year old technology
    Hires a lot of interns with no knowledge of industry

    Advice to Management

    Primary focus should be on providing high quality software solution. There seems to be a focus on the financial side with little attention paid to the technology side of the products. Invest in a level of quality standards program. IEEE may be a good start.
