I worked at SunGard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with! Learned a lot from team members and others throughout the organization. The ability to work remotely full-time allowed employees to be more productive without the stress of a commute.

    Cons

The acquisition could have been handled a little smoother in terms of communicating a clear path for lower tier non management employees. Clear role transitions and training not always consistent.

    Advice to Management

Provide better internal cross training programs for employees.

I worked at SunGard (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Generous time off -- everyone in the US begins with 3 weeks (unheard of in most places)
    Salaries were fair
Autonomy -- I was allowed to do my job without much interference
Flexibility -- managers were likely to work with employees and be accommodating in the events of emergencies and family leave

    Cons

Lots of turnover with upper management which lead to too many about-faces on what our goals and missions were. We couldn't make product improvements because new management would come in and want to go in a different direction and would undermine all the progress that had been made. This frustrated developers and others who worked so hard to make the improvements.
We didn't have enough competent people in some positions, such as client relationship. We had so much turnover that when clients needed to know who their Account Manager was, they called the help desk because no one in Account Management had reached out to them. Clients went months, even a year at times, without hearing from their business relations contact.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the good people; employees aren't replaced as easily as you think they are.

    Pros

Flexibility in remote work; Large organization operating both in US and Globally, so there is opportunity to move laterally across business lines.

    Cons

Sales areas continue to grow, but back office teams are kept small - as staff leave/let go/retire, there are minimal replacements hired and so support tends to lag

    Advice to Management

Beef up staffing at all areas
