    I worked at SunGard full-time

    Pros

SunGard offered many positions to its employees and was a reliable place to work for a decent salary and benefits, and the opportunity to interact with many professional colleagues

    Cons

There were many subdivisions within the company that were quite fragmented and this ended up causing quite an identity crisis as such a large company. Very corporate feel with a lack of sharing a common vision and sense of value for employees.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate approaches to consolidate or reclassify different business entities to have more of a unified organization. Focus on building a stronger culture where employees feel more engaged and valued.

    I worked at SunGard full-time

    Pros

Good work life balance, Don't have to work late nights, Good process followed during development. Good technical work. Work depends on project and BU.

    Cons

Depends on which project and BU you land up in. Managers doesn't give you good ratings and it doesn't matter how much you perform. Not great salary increments. People in Europe and US always try to prove low cost and offshore location people can't provide good quality work even if you fix bugs created by them. :)

Some local high ranking Management people will give good ratings and increments only to those who are smart in talking and charming.

Some Employees only talk much and impress managers by only good speaking rather than actual work and then they will be considered for opportunities.

Some Business Units like Energy domain are pathetic and avoid going there completely.

    Advice to Management

Don't judge employee performance by their smart talk and charms but consider actual work done by them.

    Pros

Sungard provides relatively better incentives, while technical/domain learning opportunities vary from project to project. Most of the projects provide a balanced work life, regular one on one's with manager help share your feed back.

    Cons

Growth in career ladder could be stagnant. Opportunities for growth are limited and there aren't too many roles to experiment with if you want to specialize in any particular area or grow in the hierarchy.

    Advice to Management

I think the management is great and tries its best to ensure that they help their employees.

I have been working at SunGard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

New leadership is capable of identifying and funding change. The majority of the people are truly passionate and committed to what they do. These people want to make a difference in K-12 education.

    Cons

Underfunded in both compensation and infrastructure. The new leadership is working hard to advance the maturity and stability of the organization.

    Advice to Management

Stay committed to getting the funding needed to right the ship. You have done this in the past so just do it again because you know how crucial it is to the overall operation.

Very good for the more experienced people looking to settle down and not ready for more challenging work.

Old technology stacks. I didn't find much challenging environment. Every thing is into manager's bucket. Depends on the project, work culture varies.
