I worked at SunGard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked at SunGard full-time for 3 years.

Company overall is very good with good policies but what matters is which BU and product you will join.

"People leave managers and not companies", I think this is the most suitable line here.

SunGard is a good with employee friendly policies. But what will you do with the company policies if your work is not good, if your leads and managers are not good.

    Cons

Business Units like Corporate Liquidity and Energy are pathetic and avoid going there completely.

Particulary in Corporate Liquidity, dont go in TRAX product. People are not good, they are sitting there for years and do as they want in projects (Because of them I left SunGard(FIS)).

Learning wise, its a big no. You only do configuration stuff, actual development is happening in Belgium.

People in Belgium treats you as a labourer and only give configuration stuff, they consider people in India least talented to write good code.

    No onsite opportunities.

You will get good hike during joining but after joining dont expect much raise.

    Advice to Management

Change the management and leads. Because of them, people are leaving. Hire good people managers from outside and bring fresh leads who can think out of the box.
Also bring some coding work also apart from configuration stuff.
Advice BU people in Europe to treat Indian employees with respect.

    Pros

Very nice international company. Very nice people and colleges. Very nice office. Technology depends on what project you are working, but it is possible to change projects during the time. I was enjoying working for this company.

    Cons

    I don't have any cons.

    Advice to Management

    Keep good work

I worked at SunGard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with! Learned a lot from team members and others throughout the organization. The ability to work remotely full-time allowed employees to be more productive without the stress of a commute.

    Cons

The acquisition could have been handled a little smoother in terms of communicating a clear path for lower tier non management employees. Clear role transitions and training not always consistent.

    Advice to Management

Provide better internal cross training programs for employees.

I worked at SunGard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good base salary. Flexible work-life balance – you can work pretty much when and where you like so long as the work is completed on time. Superb office location and views, maybe one of the best in London. Work can be satisfying and senior management are very hands on to get the ball rolling. I was lucky to work for a laid-back manager, who wasn’t always on my back. The company name and brand looks good on the CV and is well recognised within the financial services industry.

    Cons

No training or guidance whatsoever across the board, whether it’s procedures, business or product knowledge - it's pretty much sink or swim. Important information is fragmented across the whole department globally – so rather than asking the direct question, you’re always having to ask who knows what and even then, most of the time they don’t have a clue. There are quite a few experienced employees who have very condescending attitudes and like to look down on you, just because they can. Pay rise and bonus is minimal and there are limited opportunities to grow within the company. They treat permanent employees as if they were contractors – when the number of projects in the pipe line is limited they get rid of them like there’s no tomorrow. There’s absolutely no intention for the department to retain talent – it’s more important for them to make the P&L figures look pretty for the CEO. The company is shrinking by the minute – it used to occupy several full floors of office space, now it can barely fill two as so many have left. Business is going downhill and competitors are in a much stronger position moving forward.

    I worked at SunGard full-time

    Pros

Good work life balance, Don't have to work late nights, Good process followed during development. Good technical work. Work depends on project and BU.

    Cons

Depends on which project and BU you land up in. Managers doesn't give you good ratings and it doesn't matter how much you perform. Not great salary increments. People in Europe and US always try to prove low cost and offshore location people can't provide good quality work even if you fix bugs created by them. :)

Some local high ranking Management people will give good ratings and increments only to those who are smart in talking and charming.

Some Employees only talk much and impress managers by only good speaking rather than actual work and then they will be considered for opportunities.

Some Business Units like Energy domain are pathetic and avoid going there completely.

    Advice to Management

Don't judge employee performance by their smart talk and charms but consider actual work done by them.
