I worked at SunPower full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Passionate people working towards an honorary mission. Proud of what you’re working towards together. Benefits are standard, but it’s nothing to complain about. Convenient cafe is available at hq, and food cost is subsidized but it’s not free.

    Cons

Non-structured team collaboration which makes it difficult to execute projects and programs properly. A lot of details missed when big projects get launched, making more work to clean up or fix later. A lot of layers of management that you feel you need to get through to get across the finish line. Very little resources and tools to help scale and get to the next level. Data discrepancy between teams and systems lead to challenges in goal assessment and meeting those goals.

    Can’t describe the work culture...

I worked at SunPower full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers for the most-part are intelligent and put in the effort. There is always plenty of work to go around.

    Cons

Decision-makers tend to disagree on minimal viable product. Departments work in silos. Even individuals within departments work in silos. There is not a centralized area for information that can be used across categories. IT never seems to complete the work that needs to be finished in a timely manner or without error.

    Advice to Management

Actually listen, don't just use your ears to hear.

    I worked at SunPower full-time

    Pros

    -Exciting industry
-Get opportunity to work on a variety of financing structures (i.e. tax equity, back leverage, structured debt)

    Cons

-Company is owned by Total (one of the largest oil and gas companies in France); because of this, SunPower is limited in the financing structures they can execute on (especially when compared to competitors such as SolarCity and Sunrun)
    -Location in Richmond, CA

    Advice to Management

Move office to San Francisco, CA or offer shuttle service to Richmond. Given how bad the commute was, it's unsustainable (no pun intended).
