I have been working at SunTrust as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Suntrust is a great company to start out at because you get a lot of exposure to the field. I was an EIS intern and was able to gain a lot of experience that also helped me in the classroom. The projects are great, the people are extremely helpful, and the program
    Itself is excellent.

    Cons

They might give you too much work, but you are always able to discuss this with your manager. I honestly don't have any complaints at this time as being an intern

    Advice to Management

    No advixe.

I have been working at SunTrust part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I love having Sunday off, and getting to work independently

    Cons

There is a lot of favoritism, and discrimination, so one person often gets the greater load of work, while others do little to nothing.

I worked at SunTrust as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Helpful coworkers, all very nice people. A supportive environment for work. Anyone you email in the company will generally respond promptly and assist you with whatever you need.

    Cons

Slow moving and difficult to adjust to pacing. It takes about a month to get used to how things work, but after that initial period everything flows pretty smoothly. Also, some of the floors are pretty oppressive in their layout. Big gray cubes reminiscent of something out of Office Space. Other floors are much better.

    Advice to Management

Prepare interns for the fact that there is a 6 week delay in payroll. Also, do a better job of easing the transition into the snail-speed pacing of the bank as a whole.

I worked at SunTrust full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

great place to work, I suffered a massive stroke due to the sales demands, They fired me because I was disabled from the stroke I had, tried to sue them my lawyer said the Bank was too big To litigate against them .They treat you like gold just as long you don't get sick. My life is all messed up because the stroke I had,I made millions for that bank over 13 years of service,They treated me like a stepchild, they selfish and a greedy company to work for

    Cons

    They got my disability money!

    Advice to Management

Be considerate of others when employees get sick!

I have been working at SunTrust full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Supportive team oriented environment with great leadership. Good base salary and generous incentive plan (paid monthly). Good work-life balance with 9-5, M-F schedule

    Cons

Seems like incentive plans may have changed a lot from year to year in the past, although division just finished major restructuring and hopefully that will not be the case going forward. There is a lot of room for lateral career growth but to move upward there is very strong competition from co-workers (highly competitive/efficient team) and limited opportunity. Pretty limited time off for 1st 3 years as employee.

    Advice to Management

Direct supervisors are amazing. Highly experienced, very supportive and work very hard to make sure their teams are successful. Upper level management works hard to balance corporate initiatives and employee needs. Technology is outdated but they are working to build new systems.
