I have been working at SunTrust full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you are looking for work life balance Suntrust is the company for you. Nice and Friendly staff. Always opportunities to get promoted. Suntrust really cares about their employees.

    Cons

The sales goals can be too high depending on which location you work at. because foot traffic can be extremely low at some branches. Outdated software when it comes to outbound reaching.

    Advice to Management

If someone wants to go into management they should start from the bottom and work their way up so they can learn the ends and out of the business and running a branch. Suntrust should consider an management training program.

I have been working at SunTrust full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

SunTrust truly cares about their employees, unlike some other companies I have worked for. My management has always done everything in their power to help me succeed and to build the skills I need to progress in my career. I feel like the pay is pretty fair. My favorite thing about working for SunTrust though, is that they are diversity friendly and will not tolerate intolerance (no pun intended).

    Cons

If you have a client-facing position, the typical stresses from working with the public are going to apply.

I have been working at SunTrust full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Possible bonuses, depending on where you are it's easy to move up, healthcare and 401(k) match are beyond what most offer, no current sales goals for tellers

    Cons

Can be difficult to transfer, some locations very exclusive to new hires, sales goals removed but said to be coming back, big focus on production numbers. Some bridges burn easily

    Advice to Management

Be honest with employees with expectations for sales goals and corporate desired

I have been working at SunTrust full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent mobility and ability to be promoted. Good consumer banking products, making it easy to recommend products to clients. Upper management shows concern towards employees having proper work/life balance.

    Cons

Health and other benefits are not as strong as other banks.

I have been working at SunTrust full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The bank has healthcare benefits and 401k retirement plan options and match. The non sales areas seem to be Happy teammates with little job security pressure.

    Cons

Cutthroat in sales relationship roles and widget based which causes high pressure environment making employees feel they need to take shortcuts to keep job status. Turnover is high due to people “pursuing opportunities elsewhere” or actually leaving before the former happens. Consistent turnover in mid level management also that helps contribute to this type of environment. This is at the business banking level. Very operational and administrative work.

    Advice to Management

Create an actual great culture instead of cultivating what is happening described in the cons section. Actually do and implement the feelings that are advertised and shared with the public that will make employees fear for their job if not selling.

I have been working at SunTrust full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great benefits
    In a great markets
    Great reputation in the marketplace
    Genuinely cares about their clients

    Cons

Constant reorganizing - many people have had 3, 4, or 5 bosses in 12 months.
Culture used to be awesome, very collaborative; now it is very cut throat
Don't seem to care if the best talent walks out the door

    Advice to Management

Stick to a plan. SunTrust only sticks to a roadmap for 3-6 months and then hires consultants to develop a new one.

I have been working at SunTrust full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Management at all levels is focused on the "One Team" approach. Employees are encouraged ask questions or give thought or insight on a topic. Employees views are well received by management and met with great attention. Salary is competitive and fair, and the Bank wants to see all employees succeed in their job and in their financial and physical wellness. Great benefits.

    Cons

Some career moves require lateral or a step down, at first, before ultimately moving onward and upward. Can be a bit nerving, but worth the step if you stick with it.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep your employees well being at the forefront of your mindset.

The company has a great process. SunTrust asked great questions that really focused on your character, why you chose SunTrust and testing your ability to execute.
