I have been working at SunTrust full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Culture is great. Lots of opportunity for growth, but be patient (see comment in cons for internal candidates). The company fosters a great environment for volunteerism and displays a great deal of social responsibility.

    Cons

Slow to adapt to change in some departments. Some leaders are very abrasive and toxic. Some programs are still maturing resulting in constant change, which can be unnerving to some. The hiring process for internal and external candidate is a mess and is extremely lengthy.

I have been working at SunTrust full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You work in a nice building and the salary is average

    Cons

Expect senior management to be able to speak over you, yell at you, berate you, be passive aggressive towards you, overwork you, and belittle you. Maybe this doesn't hold true in all departments, but it definitely is in mine. Expect senior management to treat you like **** if you don't have a nice "title".

    Advice to Management

    be nicer to your employeees

I worked at SunTrust full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, talented peers, many opportunities to demonstrate team approach

    Cons

Bureaucratic, needless and frequent personnel, organizational and process changes due to RIFs and restructuring and outsourcing. Overburdened and disorganized risk management. Incomplete system linkages causing too many workarounds.

    Advice to Management

If you set a timetable to reorganize a function, keep it. If you seek to make any other significant changes to processes or systems, get the buy-in from those affected before implementing the changes.

    Cons

Working Instore require's a lot of time and effort. Pays off but there's no work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Lower Management, is in the same perdicament as well. Upper management, smooth the goals to not make it as aggressive for hands on managed employees.

    Pros

401k great, vacation great, overall competitive benefits, some flexibility depending on your mgr and your role. Strong brand recognition. New baseball stadium is awesome.

    Cons

Inconsistent advancement opportunities. More political than about talent, skills and qualifications- creates toxic culture. Many dead end positions. Lack of real transparency and open honest communication.

    Advice to Management

Create a "win- win" culture ( development and advancement opportunities for all not select few). Will improve employee commitment, engagement and overall corporate performance.
