I worked at SunTrust full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nights and weekends free, eligible for bonuses, decent opportunity for upward mobility

    Cons

Goals to achieve bonuses were inconsistent and criteria was unreasonable; very little support from staff, horrible staffing, never enough people to work.

    Advice to Management

Reevaluate sales requirements to true controllable measurements and address staffing issue, you are stretching employees far too thin for not enough compensation

I have been working at SunTrust full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great team building in branches.

    Cons

Upper management pushing sales goals down your throat, constant fire drills, changes so constantly you can't keep up with what's right or wrong, auditors and upper management will tell you two different policy's and a VERY stressful place to work.

    Advice to Management

You really should spend some time in the branches to see how hard we work, you treat us like raw meat. You're also making clients leave 1 by 1, I've been with the company 6 years and with the goals getting more intense our clients are leaving. Did you not learn anything from Wells Fargo? Also stop telling us what to tell CFPB about our sales goals, it's illegal.

    Pros

Awesome customers that made it feel like home

    Pros

This is a great learning experience in the banking and investing business. It's high paced with plenty of opportunity. There isn't long hours. It's solid banking hours. Due to the size of the company, there is opportunity to work in different areas.

    Cons

It's a typical corporate company. There can be significant changes with very little notice. Management can seem distant and out of touch.

I worked at SunTrust full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The only pro was the rewards for reaching the highest level of success. At SunTrust, today, they call that attaining Platinum status. I attained that 2 years in a row.

    Cons

They have gotten away from using the human capital talent and have smothered creativity to accomplish the SunTrust way. The company believes that the SunTrust process is the only method of success, and believes that even if your successful at the highest level; success is promoted only if it is done their way. I was at the highest level of reward 2 years in a role, yet the success was met with "it wasn't done the SunTrust way". Finally, SunTrust does not support

    Advice to Management

If you are new to banking and have retail experience you may learn something, but if you have a great deal of knowledge and experience successfully in banking sales and operations you would want to steer away from SunTrust.
