    Suncoast Center provides awesome services in the community and has a great group of dedicated, qualified staff that care about their clients.

    Pros

    Help people in need and met nice and professional staff that truly cared about the clients.

    Cons

    Everything else...from upper management, policy, pay rate, benefits, lack of training that is ACTUALLY USEFUL when you work in mental health, HIPPA violation from managent to staff, no opportunity for growth...the list is endless.

    Advice to Management

    DO YOURSELF, THE CLIENTS AND THE REST OF THE COMPANY A FAVOR....RESIGN!!

    Pros

    Great supervisors (with one exception), dedicated staff.

    Cons

    High pressure without breaks, poor communications, turf wars between clinical and medical staff, poor understanding by some management.

    Advice to Management

    Recognize the good work done by clinical staff with less negative criticism, more trust in what is said by clinical staff and be more upbeat.

    Pros

    Definitely made you develop a thick skin and there was a great sense of joy when you were actually able to help someone.

    Cons

    Everything! The pay was TERRIBLE. I didn't expect to be making crazy amounts of money at a nonprofit, but I didn't receive a raise the entire 2 years I worked there, even with stellar reviews from my supervisor. Management was very cliquey and, if they didn't like you, your life was miserable. You would be picked on for the tiniest things and always made to feel inadequate. Constructive criticism is welcomed, but they just tried to tear you down. Working for a nonprofit, I thought it would be all about the clients, but it was all about the money/numbers. There were several instances where we stopped accepting uninsured clients due to lack of funding. Uninsured clients made up nearly half of the population we served. It was awful! Also, a senior manager instructed us not to give reminder phone calls to uninsured clients vs the insured so they were less likely to come in. Bottom line is that Suncoast is poorly run.

    Advice to Management

    Get it together! Value your clients and employees.
