    Pros

Fantastically talented people in this company and striving to make the energy world a better place.

    Cons

Sometimes they can't get out of their own way and end up using too much time and resources to get to a place that could have been done faster.

I have been working at Suncor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Low to mid level staff collaborate well and will work together to get things done.

    Decent salary and benefits

    Cons

Very political in upper management and lack of collaboration.

Evaluation of employees is more of a popularity contest than based on performance as the system is bell curved and only so many can get high bonuses. Also difficult to manage career as most position moves are decided via upper management who do not consult leaders on skills, capabilities and preferences.

Lack of business knowledge in IT so the business wants to improve, standardize and automated, but IT is a road block so several manual work around have been developed.

    Advice to Management

Align all levels of management on expectations, lower levels expected to do more with less where as executives are promoted when given more responsibilities.

Re-visit employee evaluation program to make it more fair.

Make manager once removed conversations more structured to enable talent management and record what the employees skills sets are and preferences to career moves.
