Reviews about "good pay"
Return to all Reviews- Current Intern, more than 5 years★★★★★
Pros
Overall work life balance is good. Pay/benefits are good for employees but contractors are overpaid
Cons
Constant leadership changes from Canada. Low ceiling for advancement unless you are Canadian or one of the chosen. High performers are over promoted. Unqualified internal candidates are put in leadership roles over much higher qualified external ones. Leads to lack of leadership knowledge and bench strength

Pros
Good pay, benefits, people. They quit micro managing everyone, that's nice. They really work on getting us off when needed.
Cons
Management doesnt know if they are coming or going it seems. When big decisions need to be made it takes forever or never.

Changes are needed with Turnaround Group and Maintenance Department
RecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
"Safety first" is stressed at all levels. Good pay and benefits. If you are in the right department with good leadership, you can expand your knowledge and experience tremendously.
Cons
Too many managers at US refinery(mainly Canadian), still voice the safety first motto, but push production before all else. Little concern over working people long hours or under adverse conditions. Safety incidents are not reported or falsified to ensure manager bonuses. Starting to fade from the work/life balance, and expectiing folks to work longer hours. Promotion and hiring of unqualified or incompotent leaders, becuase they don't question authority and have low moral value.
