    Great Company to work for

Jul 24, 2021 - IT Specialist in Mississauga, ON

    Pros

Suncor is a great company to work for in IT. The other employees are friendly, they offer free training and certification, and the lower/middle management team is great. Leadership communicates well, and for the most part they explain their actions. They offer excellent benefits, lots of vacation and personal time off. Bonus plan and restricted stock units for high performers. Overall Suncor is a great place to work.

    Cons

Relocated Petro Canada to Calgary, created a lot of job losses. Although they offered relocation packages there is no need for IT to relocate these days. They flattened the organization structure in IT, which will limit progression on a management track.

    Pros

Suncor has lots of diversity and provides great pay, also takes care very well of interns as they have a whole Intern Social Club

    Cons

Politics are visible. Top management leaders are mostly male, which gives me a sense of old boys club

    Overall, pretty great

Mar 11, 2021 - Project Controls Analyst in Fort McMurray, AB

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Suncor is working really hard to create an inclusive and diverse workspace - as every company it is not perfect but you can tell that the executive team is giving it their all. The pay and benefits are pretty substantial. Suncor is big on development, so if you put yourself out there, you can get great opportunities for growth even without fully switching your job title

    Cons

Booms and busts of the oil economy can lead to lay-offs, stress within some team members, and significant change in requirements from management to make decisions (con if you don't like constant change and tight deadlines)

    Work-life balance

Apr 11, 2021 - Process Engineer in Fort McMurray, AB

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Suncor cares about the work-life balance of the employees. They continuously strive to cater to their employees needs. They listen to their employees needs and allow for input prior to any planned changes.

    Cons

Management is not consistent throughout the company. More training is required for management to treat employees consistently, particularly inherent bias, but it is getting better and Suncor has started to address this issue.
