I have been working at Suncor full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Striving to improve technological advantages, location,

    Cons

Bureaucratic, HR processes take too long, improving work life balance but still requires improvement, lack of diversity, too much work - not enough time. Very little potential for upward movement for US citizens.

    Advice to Management

Resource demand doesn't match goals. Too much work, too little time. Management determines deadlines without understanding resource implications.

I have been working at Suncor full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

"Safety first" is stressed at all levels. Good pay and benefits. If you are in the right department with good leadership, you can expand your knowledge and experience tremendously.

    Cons

Too many managers at US refinery(mainly Canadian), still voice the safety first motto, but push production before all else. Little concern over working people long hours or under adverse conditions. Safety incidents are not reported or falsified to ensure manager bonuses. Starting to fade from the work/life balance, and expectiing folks to work longer hours. Promotion and hiring...

I have been working at Suncor full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great place to work, many different opportunities for career path, easy to move within organization, great pay compared to competitors and fair evaluations. Company has seen success even in some of the toughest years, and has a very loyal employee base. Lots of subject matter experts, high tenure employees and flexibility for work life balance.

    Cons

Very bureaucratic, middle and senior management heavy, heavy on processes and opportunities to streamline especially with decision making. Missing the mark on engagement especially for younger generation, could spend a little more time on succession planning for front line leader levels.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on employee engagement, granting autonomy in roles and culture.
