I worked at Suncorp Group full-time

    Pros

Great workplace which facilitates collaboration and teamwork. Relaxed work environment with respect and trust all around. Ability to work from home (if your team is in agreement).

    Cons

Scattered direction from the senior management as the company went through three internal restructures in the span of a year. When many managers are leaving the company at roughly the same time, it's a subliminal sign the company is not heading in the right direction.

    Advice to Management

More transparency with why decisions are being made.

    Pros

The group puts bright people into leadership roles and there's opportunity to move within the business to gain experience and progress your career. Generally there is a pragmatic approach to getting on with the job and adapting to change.

    Cons

With extreme cost focus post-GFC & post-mergers there was way too much internal competition for roles and politics tended to prevail in appointments.

I have been working at Suncorp Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing work life balance, encouraged to work from home.
Team and Manager/Executive Manager are phenomenal
    Good location n Sydney
Wider team and stakeholders all nice, most people (95%) are just genuinely nice here.
Some phenomenal female EM's - strong and fierce
    Usual banking benefits.

    Cons

Very archaic in some of the processes and technology
Encountered a few moments where hints of thinly disguised misogyny have come through.
Hard to find additional career opportunities, but you are empowered to and move on if you can and want.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps review the need for some middle managers who's roles may not add any value. Also, proper market due diligence on salary otherwise you will have a lot of churn, some of the salaries are not on par with experience, role requirements or general market (doing like for like comparison)

I worked at Suncorp Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Suncorp group is an excellent company to work for if you are looking for a traditional company with a very conservative work culture. Suncorp creates a community culture which fosters harmony in the workplace, with an employee base who are generally 35+ suncorp is great for employees who are looking for a long term career prospect with great job security and a sense of family within the workplace. With management supporting workers movement to other departments to experience more sides of the business and a very generous policy on flexible working arrangements, I would reccomend Suncorp for workers who are looking for long-term career roles, or require flexible working arrangements to suit their out of workplace commitments.

    Cons

Suncorps culture may not be for everyone, with little to no commission structure, and an arbitrary bi-annual bonus structure based on the budget management has set aside, younger millennial or workers looking for high performance high paying roles may find themselves quickly suffocated. Suncorp tends to utilize secondments over promotions to ensure workers are given different roles and responsibilities to understand the business better and decrease the repetitive nature of their roles. But ultimately this leads to lack of promotion, with workers returning to their original roles and not having any potential for vertical movement.

    Advice to Management

As a traditional company with a conservative culture, I believe suncorp runs very well, they have setup a workplace that is low pressure and fosters harmony between the workers. Office politics generally occurs on a micro scale but there is definitely no case of systemic abuse of power or office politics merging into management decisions. Keep up the good work.
