    Pros

Start up mentality with a great sense of purpose. Management is doing a great job to evolve into a new business model that includes much needed consulting services

    Cons

They are finding it challenging to implement new business model but they are focused. Internal processes are evolving, People are a bit reluctant to adjust, but they do.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. You have worked hard to land some big deals and it is paying off. Leverage those successes to gain more big clients

I have been working at Sungard Availability Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits are great. Management is generally very good. You have opportunities to continue education. Growth opportunities exist for those willing to change job roles from time to time.

    Cons

Taking time off is often problematic as staffing is too thin to provide coverage while you're out. Tasks either don't get done while you're out or you get called while on "vacation" to handle critical items.

Tools are often deployed before they're mature and this leads to loss of productivity.

    Advice to Management

Pay closer attention to what's going on in the trenches. Many of the challenges we're seeing regarding revenue and costs are direct results of decisions impacting people at the bottom. Do more skip level meetings to cut through the filters.

    Pros

New Management is looking for efficiencies, improvements, savings

    Cons

Unfortunately the drive for efficiencies keeps meaning re-orgs and cuts. Every year there are a few and just about every 2 years is a large re-org.

I have been working at Sungard Availability Services full-time

    Pros

None that I can think of

    Cons

Zero direction at this company. They continue to always layoff employees monthly. All other staff that are good workers are quitting. Sungard seems to think running most departments with one or two employees works.

    Advice to Management

Count your losses and close the doors. Constantly bringing in new executives to turn the company around with no results isn't working. You have employees that fear for their job everyday. End the nightmare

I have been working at Sungard Availability Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

decent pay, work-life balance is considerably good. I like the fact that they offer virtual positions

    Cons

No bonuses at operations level. sometimes i struggle with where my job responsibilities 'end".

    Advice to Management

The limits of work responsibilities is really important and should be clearly stated. Consider extending bonuses to operations and other levels other than Management. A happy employee is a happy company!

I have been working at Sungard Availability Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fair pay. Competitive benefits. Company trying to promote from within.

    Cons

No new products to sell. Constant cost cutting. Eliminating key employees with no transition plan. Shipping jobs off shore.

    Advice to Management

Sending jobs offshore is not the way to retain current customers. Trying to piggyback on AWS is not the way to attract new customers.

    Pros

Great place to start a career. At Sungard, you're always interacting with various teams, which is great for networking.

    Cons

While working in my position and point of view, it seems that management does not have a handle on the business. At times my department seemed very disorganized and lacking work. Besides that, the constant layoffs and the constant reminder from managers "do not worry your job is safe". Just to be laid off in three months time.

I have been working at Sungard Availability Services full-time

    Pros

A very good salary. The bonus when they run out of excuses not to pay it.

    Cons

The company has been caught in a death spiral and its only a matter of time before:
    A - Bankruptcy
B - Fire sale to an Indian IT Services company.
C - All US employees walk out the door
    D - All the above
The latest round of layoffs moved a significant portion (90%+) of customer support to off-shore resources. Mangement that was left in place is at best incompetent and clueless. Success rates for services are significantly over-inflated (50% over industry average) to make VPs look good in the eyes of the CEO. Customers have been leaving at a significant rate and are expected to leave at a quicker pace in 2017 due to outsourcing and related poor service. Any good US employees that survived the recent RIFs are looking to get out ASAP. The next RIF is expected in 2-3 months. The C-Suite has their golden parachutes on. It's only a matter of time...

    Advice to Management

The bad decisions you've been making for years have finally caught up with you. Trying to make your bottom line look good by dumping all of your US resources for cheap off-shore resources might make SgAS look better for potential buyers, but you should hope you can dupe someone into buying the company before your entire customer base evaporates.

    Pros

Good benefits, vacation, and salary. Able to work remotely part of the week. Great employees and family atmosphere in certain centers. Unfortunately, not at all.

    Cons

Salaried employees are Expected to work 50-60 hours a week with no compensation. Double the work and bullied to keep up the same pace with less people.

    Advice to Management

Employees cannot keep up the pace. Life work balance is not right. Told that we aren't supposed to be working 15 hours of O/T but management not doing nothing to alleviate the pressure on their staff. No end in sight except for upcoming layoffs. Sad times at SunGard AS.
