    Pros

They are considered a leader in the recovery space for the industry.
If a company uses IBM technology they provide a good number of services.

    Cons

They do not have the ability to be relevent in today's changing technology. In an attempt to bolster the bottom line, they are heavily off shoring jobs to India and Costa Rica.
Colocation facilities are outdated and over priced.
The company has stated numerous times, that they are always for sale.

    Pros

Used to be a great company, used to love going to work, great people. Pay and benefits pretty decent, flexible.

    Cons

The company is cutting costs and keeps paying off to re finance some debt, at first it was roles to offshore and product based mostly, now it just seems to be the great people who really are the biggest supporters of the company. It's awful and depressing and no one wants to go to work. I think this company is a sinking ship and will not exist as we know it in 6 months.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent, always feeling like there is a target that you're the next one being "chopped" is awful for morale.

    Pros

Solid reputation and excellent focus when the disaster strikes

    Cons

Can't seem to find their way forward and get aligned around what they want to be, where they should focus next, who they are competing against and what they don't want to do.

    Advice to Management

Get together and work as one team and stop sniping at each other

    Pros

The people were the reason for staying. The customers were the reason for staying. Believing in what the company did was a reason for staying.

    Cons

People are gone, products are not progressing, customers are agitated, the company seems lost in its purpose except to try to cut to make numbers and sell what they can.

    Advice to Management

None that they would listen to

I worked at Sungard Availability Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Was able to work remotely most times.

    Cons

The Company is being driven to of-shore as much as possible, and made major swings in strategy every 6 months or so...(often with staffing reductions as a result). Once the big fish in the pond, now struggling to keep up with the competitors on most fronts.

    Advice to Management

Take a good look at the effectiveness of your off-shoring strategy, which is not as efficient or successful as you would believe. Received many customer complaints about this move prior to my departure.
