I have been working at Sungevity full-time

    Pros

You have the ability to make real change happen within the company and the industry. You're working with an incredibly passionate and intelligent group of people. At the end of even the worst day, you feel better about what you have achieved.

    Cons

The industry is a solar coaster, which is frustrating at times. There continue to be growing pains, but the whole industry is feeling it.

    Advice to Management

Transparency and stability can't be underestimated. Continue to maintain the culture we worked so hard to build, while listening to employees and providing development opportunities when possible.

I worked at Sungevity full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a lot of fun to work there and they had some great people

    Cons

Long hours and hard work is not always recognized.

    Advice to Management

You lost some good people back in February of 16 who still might want to be there. It is a shame that cuts were made for a profitable quarter to go public.

I worked at Sungevity part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent per hour rate plus $250 per sale, full benefits if you work at least 20 hours per week. Everyone gets sick time and three weeks vacation - even part-timers under 20 hours per week!

    Cons

Extremely volatile industry right now. If you can keep quota, you'll do well. If not, you won't last long.

    Advice to Management

Upper management: Respond to ppl when they send you an email - especially when you tell ppl to email you. It means a lot just to get a simple, short response and says a lot when you don't.

I have been working at Sungevity full-time

    Pros

Nice location. Good medical/dental and other benefits.

    Cons

Lack of planning and process. Seems to be in crisis every other week. Little sense of teamwork. Self preservation mentality. Few prospects for growth and leadership. All learning and other perks have been slashed.

    Advice to Management

Why are we not profitable (after 10 years) and what can we do as a team to make us profitable?

    I worked at Sungevity full-time

    Pros

-People. Sungevity has a great track record of bringing some talented people
-Culture, again goes back to people, everyone is helpful, everyone is passionate and everyone is always putting in extra to make the solar industry work.

    Cons

-Solar in general is a challenging industry to be in, there are ups and downs.
-Business changes without a full review of their impact on the entire company, not just one team.

    Advice to Management

-Hold your senior management accountable, not just middle management or the front line employees. At the end of the day, senior management establishes the vision for their team and if that vision is not executed, they should be held responsible.

I worked at Sungevity full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This group of people are some of the most wonderful I've met in my career. It was a pleasure spending my days with them. Good medical benefits and a stellar location.

    Cons

For a company that is 8-10 years old, you'd expect leadership learn from mistakes of the past. It took years to start driving more decisions using data. Some projects went on for far too long. Took too long to get rid of people who didn't add value. The organization was very flat and there was very little in terms of upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

With the utmost sincerity, good luck. I hope that Sungevity does well for itself because it has a great mission and it's still the best national solar company in my book. I hope that there continues to be more Sungevity on roofs. Pivot faster and more efficiently. Keep overhead low. Create consequences for people who can't figure out how to wash their dishes.
