I worked at Sunoco Chemicals full-time

    Pros

Management was good not micromanaging. They let you do your work with minimal interruptions. Salary was great and benefits were really good. Enjoyable experience

    Cons

Lots of work heaped on you with minimal help. Deadlines were quick and changed often. You just need to go with the flow.

    Advice to Management

While management is good I believe there needs to be more emphasis on training and development. Lots of good people with little knowledge.

I worked at Sunoco Chemicals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting operations. Management had good ideas, until the intent to sell the division.

    Cons

Company planning to sell this division. Many layoffs. A loss to the community.

    Advice to Management

Should not have sold the division.

    Pros

Sunoco has been a relatively stable company in the recent past, and has diversified in chemicals. Sunoco has worked to improved the business position of the chemicals business. Sunoco has provided challenging and rewarding projects. Employees are loyal to the company, and are commited to Sunoco's strategies. Sunoco is beginning to engage employees better than in the past.

    Cons

The employee population is not as ethnically diverse as some other companies. Communication within groups and between groups needs to improve, and interactions between business units need to increase. Sunoco does not provide enough opportunities for "rank and file" employees to provide input and feedback.

    Advice to Management

Sunoco needs to improve communications between the business units, and from upper management.

    Pros

    Opportunities to advance are there.

    Cons

Sunoco thought they could sell the business so they stopped trying to run it. This means a lot of the plant systems are falling apart.

    Advice to Management

Either get senior managment that has a manufacturing background or sell the business
