I worked at Sunoco full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

As always it's retail. If you love working with the public it's a good place to be. Always enjoy talking with regular customers and meeting new ones.

    Cons

Management very disorganized. Running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Not properly training team members. Very disrespectful of coworker boundries and the way they talk to them. Upper management turns a blind eye to what is teally going on in the stores.

    Advice to Management

Was training to be GM. Store manager had no clue what was going on and that was very sad as she has been working in her capacity for years. Make sure that when training new GM's or assistance that the person doing the training is qualified to do so!

I have been working at Sunoco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company offers excellent benefits and pay. It is very safety oriented and is willing to invest considerable capital in equipment and people. They have a lot of opportunity for personal growth.

    Cons

Some of the benefits are vague. I've had difficulty learning about how certain things like vacation and sick days work.

    Advice to Management

I would keep up the good work and continue the current path. As I stated above, some of the things could be explained more clearly, but I'm very happy.

"6 day work weeks, terrible support from upper management"

    Pros

The company has brilliant goals and decent pay.

    Cons

But fail to understand that in order to reach those goals we require more support in the frontlines. We as general managers work ridiculous hours, 6 days a week, no holidays off. There is no work life balance. They expect so much with so little labor to support the growing company's needs. No support from upper management. Recent micro managing techniques completely strip general managers of all control. Don't even think of requesting a weekend off. Be ready to work 60-70 hour weeks. They claim that your work day is 6am-4pm Monday-Friday and half a day Saturday 6am-12pm... unfortunately that is not so at all..

    Advice to Management

Start taking better care of your front line managers. Provide them with more support and start hiring competent support staff at the corporate levels. Staff that actually answer our financial questions.

    Pros

Fortune 500 company. Great benefits. Brand new office in beautiful park setting. Great office. Usually provides extended three day weekends before major holidays.

    Cons

Terrible management. Manager of department has no people skills, hidden agendas, poor communicator. She has had no training managing people. Back stabbing environment. Rather than provide proper training saves up constructive criticism for weeks then unloads. Not a stable person. May have a substance abuse problem.

I have been working at Sunoco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good schedule in which I don't work most weekends and can make all my kids games. Also get payed every week.

    Cons

Poor management. Some employees do nothing and get all recognition. Promise of promoting and never see it.
Work load is crazy high but not enough people or hours to do the work. Manager always complains about stuff not getting done but never enforce anything.

    Advice to Management

Come and work a day in our shoes and see what we deal with.
