I have been working at Sunovion full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I am a new employee here at Sunovion and I cannot say enough great things about the company. Number one is the people that work here - very passionate, intelligent and friendly. Lot's of change in the air here - so that can make some people nervous or anxious - but I love the challenges and the opportunities that lay in front of us.

    Cons

There are a lot of processes and operating procedures here that are pretty outdated. As a company there is an opportunity to become more flexible and less rigid with policies. Lots of temporary employees to overcome headcount limitations.

    Advice to Management

Make better use of technology. Stop being so headcount restrained. Let common sense prevail when it comes to operating procedures and policy. Sometimes its ok to walk away from long-standing processes and practices.

I have been working at Sunovion full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My manager was the best most supportive manager I had ever encountered! Sunovion Pharmaceuticals does not play around! If you meet and or exceed any and all expectations, your career with them will be the best position throughout your entire career l! REALLY!

    Cons

Sadly, despite immediately being extremely successful in every way mandated or clearly outlined in several different ways! Due to a completely unexpected personal tragedy, I had to unexpectedly prioritize my daughter over Sunovion Pharmaceuticals and they were not tolerant of what I was unexpectedly having to attend to whatsoever! To the degree that despite from day one overachieving any and all company expectations, I was let go siting, “unfortunately we cannot allow any Company Sales Representative to prioritize any time consuming and extremely distracting circumstances to cause sales representatives of Sunovion Pharmaceuticals unexpected distraction from job performance or duties!

And I was immediately the number one Sales and Marketing Representative hired as well as invested into that did not have a prior career history in the pharmaceutical sales industry!

And the decision to let me go was while I was the Number One Sales Representative Sunovion Invested quite a bit into to get be to be able to represent their name and history!

    Advice to Management

Understand that unfortunate as well as unexpected life situations occurre that are absolutely unexpected and certainly nothing one of your best Sales and Marketing Representative’s ever had would want to deal with!

I have been working at Sunovion full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Small enough to be heard.

    Cons

Slow to make changes from what’s being communicated from the field. Often times it’s too late.

    Advice to Management

Make changes to correct mistakes as quickly as the changes that end up being mistakes. Listen to the challenges from a larger sample size and don’t automatically dismiss as excuses.

I worked at Sunovion full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    On-site cafeteria
    Community Service Day
    Summer hours

    Cons

No room for advancement -dead end for career

Micromanagement of staff is the norm

Do not work here if you want to use your brain to think. Sr. Directors and Executive Director will think for you and tell you what to do , how to do it and when to do it. It’s a my way only management mentality. Not empowered at all when it comes to working at this place. Bring your body to work and leave your brain at home!

    Sub-culture of friends hiring friends

Yes Men indebted to friends that hired them

Differences of opinions and approaches to solving issues are not welcomed

Did I mention friends hire friends to work for them as direct reports ? These friends worked together at one big pharma company that closed its doors in the local area. They managed to pull off moves in hiring that would protect them and require loyalty from those they brought in the company . There is a clique and sub- culture of their previous company that has been allowed to permeate groups because of the cronyism and nepotism. Can you say group think, group think ! Yes Men outnumber Outsiders of the clique at the Sr. Director and Executive Director levels.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting friends hire and report to friends
Implement 360 feedback into performance reviews where the reviews flow up at least two levels . Be cognizant that friends are reporting to friends . This may skew the results favorably amongst friends . Find a way to rid the organization of the blatant cronyism and nepotism. Tie people leaders’ bonuses to feedback from their direct reports .

Get rid of the AstraZeneca subculture. It’s destroying Sunovion’s culture.

    Pros

Work Life Balance & single owner territories

    Cons

Salaries for friends of managers who are brought in can be significantly higher than those that are currently employed. Definitely tons of favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Review salaries, yearly merit increases, the few illuminate points that are ever distributed to make sure managers are keeping things at Parity for males, females & level of experience.
