I worked at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center full-time

    Pros

There are opportunities to grow and move from the position you start after your first year.
Great pay system with weekend pay and overnight pay.
Benefits are amazing (Since it's a hospital)

    Cons

Employees are childish and are scared to lose their job to someone younger and more efficient than them, so they watch for mistakes.

    Advice to Management

Don't always believe what the older employees tell you.

    Pros

Great benefits, 5 paid weeks a year off. Always opportunities for overtime.

    Cons

Non nursing staff can feel bullied and put down by nurses who feel if your not a nurse you have no business being there.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your underdog support staff, we make sure everything runs smoothly in a chaotic environment. Tell nurses its unethical and not tolerated to belittle non nursing staff; we have every right to be there as you do, to do a job we were hired for.

I have been working at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center (More than 8 years)

    Pros

great pay, advancement opportunities, friendly staff

    Cons

poor nurse-patient ratio, outdated computer system - Meditech, charge nurses do more "desk" work than actually rounding to find out what's going on in their units, Healthstream is a poor substitute for much needed hands-on training.

    Advice to Management

Improve nurse-patient ratios for the sake of patient safety and to prevent nursing errors and burnout. Bring back HUC's to free up charge nurses to take a minimal patient assignment and be able to be available to respond to patient emergencies. Need to bring back yearly "skills" fairs to allow staff to learn and demonstrate new and old skills.
