    Help Change Lives

    Dec 7, 2022 - Office Manager
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Having a career that helps people has always been a high priority and Sunrise is a great place to pursue that goal. Every year we help families overcome difficult circumstances and our students heal from their trauma. Additionally Sunrise feels like a small business rather than a giant corporation where you are just a small cog in the machine.

    Cons

It can be hard to see girls struggle and leave the program early, and the mentor staff turn over can be high at certain times of the year as students graduate college.

    Pros

Caring atmosphere where you know you matter as a person Many opportunities for advancement and growth Very rewarding work, no matter the position you hold Despite my cons I do think Sunrise is a great place to work

    Cons

Feels like if you're not a clinician or in residential, you are an afterthought when it comes to pay increases. Many claim they're open to feedback when they actually aren't When seeking out support it often feels like we're told why things are the way they are instead of being heard Sometimes you have to push very hard for appropriate levels of discipline as it feels like relationships matter more than sending the right message

    Place of Learning and Growth

    Nov 21, 2022 - Executive Director
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

I started out at Sunrise as a youth mentor. I fell in love with the healing and growth that takes place among the students and families. Sunrise became a place of learning and growth for me personally and professionally. I was given so many opportunities to advance and build a career. Sunrise invests in it's employees and creates a culture of growth.

    Cons

At times the students can be challenging to work with, and Sunrise does well training and giving their employees the tools to support the students. It's an ongoing need, and one that Sunrise continually works on.

    DBT and Relationships matter!

    Nov 30, 2022 - Academic Director
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Growth mindset, care about employees, encouragement to take care of yourself, the people you get to work with - both clients and coworkers, clear vision and goals, great leadership

    Cons

Sometimes we get a wave of turnover and that can be hard in this field. Working mental health can take a toll on your mental health when you're not taking care of yourself!

    Pros

The best part about working here was being able to influence the clients’ lives in a positive way, and being given the tools to do so.

    Cons

Limited upward movement for those looking for a career in this field.

Amazing Personal Growth but terrible pay with impossible expectations

Oct 15, 2021 - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in Philadelphia, PA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

This job provides so much training and teaching about mental health disorders, DBT, boundaries, and treatment. The job provides a lot of meaningful work and you get to see a lot of patients succeed and live healthy lives afterwards which is very rewarding. There is a lot you can personally learn from this job and grow with.

    Cons

Terrible pay, and terrible work/life balance. They preach a lot about boundaries, but if you try to hold personal boundaries with work then you get steamrolled. The raises are only distributed once per year, the the maximum amount is 2%. You’re doing the job of 3 people, and they abuse salary employee positions to work them well over 40 hours. This job will eventually run you into the ground and burn you out. The turn over is extremely high and there little support to employees. There are a lot of great things to learn from this job. So learn them, then move on before you get burned out.
