I have been working at Sunrise Senior Living full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Builds character and helps you build your leadership role within the community. I would definitely recommend this position. I loved working here

    Cons

They do have a high turnover rate. I went through about 5 EDs and 4 RCs in the past 4 years.

    Advice to Management

Always try to listen to your care managers. They are your frontliners and they are the ones that make this company work.

I worked at Sunrise Senior Living full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice pleasant looking environment, staff and management nice mostly, fast paced so day goes by quickly, rewarding experience helping people

    Cons

Supervisors sometimes showed favoritism, too many residents assigned to one person in the am so couldn’t give people time or attention they needed, got physically hit at time but I worked the the Alzheimer and dementia residents so expected.

    Advice to Management

Try to make sure to have enough staff to cover morning shifts so that they don’t have to break their back trying to have everybody bathed, restroom, and dressed before breakfast

I have been working at Sunrise Senior Living full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I’m a Sunrise lover. My particular community has been wonderful. Lots of room for advancement and they treat their employees well. Work hard for them and they will work hard for you.

    Cons

Can be very stressful at times. MUST be able to multitask and prioritize. As coordinator you are on call 24/7. Basically you need to eat drink and breathe Sunrise. So if you love it, it’s great. If you don’t love it, you won’t last.

I worked at Sunrise Senior Living full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very well organized corporate structure. Solid policies and processes. Great culture for internal promotion in all departments.

    Cons

Very strict oversight. Zero tolerance. Not sure about corporate wide, but in the particular location where I worked, there was religious (christian) overtones. Not against it, but not in the workplace.

    Pros

Good management. Very engaged and supportive.

    Cons

Demographics prove difficult to hire qualified or committed people. HR is so politically correct that management is forced on the defensive too much!

    Advice to Management

Don't believe anything until you investigate thoroughly instead of having to backtrack on your decisions.
