I have been working at Sunshine Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working outdoors and meeting new people every day. It nice to not have boss looking over your shoulder every day.

    Cons

It hard work working out side during the summer

    Advice to Management

Focus on the thing the techs can control.

I worked at Sunshine Communications full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You are your own boss. Get paid weekly. North county supervisor and manager were awesome to work for they would help out when I was running behind. They always got my work load reduced.

    Cons

Long hours. You have to work out of your own truck. You have to work holidays. They no longer have the north county contract for residential.

    Advice to Management

They need to fight to get the North county contract back .

I worked at Sunshine Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some great technicians there to work with.

    Cons

Negligent Company, Unorganized, has with-held pay from employees, El Cajon location supervisors are not properly trained and cant seem to handle their jobs, they are always late to work and unwilling to support technicians, The manager is the same way at the El Cajon location. On the other hand the Management and Supervisors and the North county location for Carlsbad and Corona are decent. The company does not offer any good benefits and is not competitive. Its an older company that I believe is stuck in old ways with outdated systems and procedures. They offer not paid time off other than the state mandated sick time. There is no 401K option. Technicians are given false hope being told things that never come to fruition. They ask you to take your required lunch break by the 5th hour of the day but almost never give you a schedule that allows for it then continue to tell you to just leave the customers house in the middle of a job to take your lunch or 'what you do on your lunch is up to you' and to clock it out and then take lunch later in the day. This company has caused me an overwhelming amount of stress and the lack of empathy and ability to provide for its employees has caused depression and inability to keep up basic requirements for the job such as vehicle maintenance costs. The pay is not enough for what they ask of their employees.

    Advice to Management

Refresh the company and purge it of all its old bad habits and bad employees in management and supervisors.

I have been working at Sunshine Communications full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Experience in telecommunications which can prove invaluable to a high school only grad. Great pay if you have an aptitude for the work and are willing to do what it takes. 401k and health/vision/dental. the company is always looking to expand into other areas so chances for promotion are available unlike a lot of the contracting companies you will find. Awesome management and ownership, I've been here a long time and its never been better.

    Cons

depends on your point of view, i do not mind long hours with the kind of pay I make. as with any telecom job upset customers can be a pain, but improving their attitudes by fixing what needs to be fixed is a rewarding challenge.

    Advice to Management

    keep up the great work.

I worked at Sunshine Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is good if you like to work 50+ hours a week (which most of the time is mandatory). You make enough money that it's difficult to leave and find something better. Work/Life balance is good if you don't have a life outside of this job. At least you get medical/dental benefits for when you hurt yourself on the job. General Manager is great and supervisors are generally good when they don't have the pressure from all around.

    Cons

You will do the same job forever. No room for advancement, period. Zero company culture. Pay cuts instead of raises. A wildly complicated pay structure based on too many variables, some of which are beyond your control. Turn-Around is high because of the amount of workload and physical labor involved. This company is basically a slave to the larger telecommunications company it contracts for and the larger company is always changing the rules so Sunshine Communications employees end up taking the brunt of these changes; rarely is it a positive change. It's going downhill fast.

    Advice to Management

    Get out while you can.
