I worked at Sunshine State Health Plan full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company is fast growing. Because it's a fast growing company, you're promoted quickly. Good pay for entry level position as compared to other companies,

    Cons

Training isn't the best. When call volume is high, they will throw you into queues of which you're not trained. It's all about the numbers and not true customer service for the members.

    Advice to Management

Management need training in everything. I suggest that they make it mandatory for Supervisors to become Six Sigma Certified.

I have been working at Sunshine State Health Plan full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some autonomy, employees have long term relationships and lifelong friends,.

    Cons

Don't even know where to begin. The lack of organization and chaos that has become Sunshine is beyond help. Middle management has their hands tide and most are clueless of how to solve day to day problems . Most of them don't have a clue what goes on in reality. All management are sitting on their thrones collecting big bucks. What a waste of talent and commitment.
Not sure how they are even in business.

    Advice to Management

Get real and serve our members. Losten to all employees. Read your employee engagement survey!!

I have been working at Sunshine State Health Plan full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay and good benefits. Tuition reimbursement. Latest technology used.

    Cons

Management practices harassment and is supported by HR. Nothing is done about it. If you complain or say anything they find a way to get rid of you. One manager specifically targets people and nothing is done to her about it.

    Advice to Management

Reel in your management. Give HR a backbone. Pay attention to what the program is all about, helping people , not taking advantage of Medicaid.

    Pros

Competitive salary. Many remote positions available (work from home). Great benefits packages. Annual bonuses. Annual merit increases. Growth opportunities are endless and the company has a great relocation benefit.

    Cons

High turn over rate. Too many leaders with inconsistent communication. Leadership and HR do not look out for their employees and will not support you.

    Advice to Management

The leadership panel, across the state, has poor communication. Each region has a different process and it really puts your field employees at a disadvantage. Your leadership team does not support the field employees when there are issues and errors in their work but, instead, they throw them under the bus, take credit for their work, and walk all over them. You have too many "directors of operations" and it only causes confusion and chaos.

I have been working at Sunshine State Health Plan full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay and great teammates. Fun employee engagement activities. Upper management is very good at showing appreciation for employees.

    Cons

Stressful working conditions and the quality management is horrible.

    Advice to Management

Please get management who are experienced and knowledgeable enough to understand that an agent who states "On behalf of Sunshine Health, Thank You" could also mean the same as "Thank You for calling Sunshine Health." Employees are starting to think that these are tactics to get people to quit. How convenient now that the ACA is questionable.
