I have been working at Sunstate Equipment (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Full benefits. Job security. Good people.

    Cons

10 to 12 hour days. Open shops with coolers during 115 degree days. Always short handed. Corporate growing pains.

    Advice to Management

Better facilities or climate control for current facilities. Don't loose sight of what made the company successful. Take care of the employees and they will take care of the customer and company.

I have been working at Sunstate Equipment full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

When you start with Sunstate everything is peaches and cream and they put up a great front.

    Cons

I’ve been with the company for SEVERAL years now and the management at local branches suck. They like to micro manage, falsify paperwork, and preach core values but don’t lead by them. There has been several employees walk out in the last few weeks and yet they blame the employees for leaving. Look at the management.

    Advice to Management

Upper management (PHX) need to look into their regional, metro and branch managers before we loose all the dedicated employees. We lost one here in the Dallas area today that was one of the best employees I’ve see at the company. Dedicated, stayed late to cover when needed, always willing to give a hand when needed and was forced to resign for standing up for the employees and what was right for the company. You might want to look into this before we loose more.

I have been working at Sunstate Equipment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

a lot of people who have been working here for 5+ years they definitely believe of promoting within the company when they can. Company is growing its market more east coast

    Cons

6 month until you can obtain vacation time/personal time is annoying. They don't use to current IT programs compared to other employers I've worked for ( 2 other employers within 10 years) but it gets the job done.

I have been working at Sunstate Equipment full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This company was built on a strong foundation of principles which are still in place today. Sunstate invests in and values their people first and foremost. That may sound like corporate jargon but its true and it's what makes Sunstate different than every one of their competitors. If you believe in honesty, hard work and love being part of a team then this is the place for you. If you demonstrate these attributes once on board it will be noticed and rewarded. This is a growing company with no shortage of opportunity.

    Cons

There are no outright "cons" that I can add really.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on the people and principles that are foundational to Sunstate. The loyalty of your people is fully dependent on this.

I worked at Sunstate Equipment full-time

    Pros

I have to add 5 words apparently. Those are the pros.

    Cons

Advance people into upper management positions that are incapable of doing the job. This is a rental company that is in the second tier of companies in this type of business. Think H&E, Ahearn, or All Star Rents. Want to be one of the big boys but fall short. If you want to be with the real players in this business, go to United Rentals, Sunbelt, or Herc Rentals. Those are the real players in the game.

    Advice to Management

Do more to retain top talent.

    Pros

Consistent hours and OT every week. Weekly pay. Benefits

    Cons

Working outside all day. Dirty work cleaning all the construction equipment. They'll fire you for anything. Not the best job but pays the bills. Lazy coworkers only makes your job harder.

I worked at Sunstate Equipment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great dedicated team of fellow employees, the pay was fair and good vacation. They also offered medical, dental etc etc also 401k was typical for industry. This branch Fort Collins does have a great branch manager.

    Cons

Long hours,no home life and constantly being micro managed. The metro ops manager will monitor communication between you and dispatch and will interject with his opinion when it is not needed. This could be a great branch if the ops manager would stay away and let the branch manager handle his team. Unfortunately the ops manager controls the branch manager like his puppet.

    Advice to Management

Keep closer tabs on your upper management, you have a metro ops manager that is driving people away but thinks he is keeping the place together. I showed up to work everyday wondering if I would be “coached” right out the door. The metro ops manager in the Denver market is never willing to see his mistakes. He turns it around on dedicated employees and tells them it’s all in the way they viewed the situation. I truly did not want to leave but could no longer work for such a micro managing, egotistical individual.

I worked at Sunstate Equipment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A good dept manager who no longer works there

    Cons

Racist, Bigoted Senior management from the CEO to the CFO, they embrace non-productive manipulating cheating employees. No gratitude for honest employees. Political favoritism, all white upper management, and mostly all white lower level managers throughout the company

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the politics, and all of the employees who have been there over 25yrs in senior management. Starting with the CFO, eradicate the racism and promote fair equal opportunities by promoting minorities to Senior management roles. And stop lying on employees and supporting gross negligence
