I worked at Super Supplements full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Great team members
    -Usually great managers
    -Awesome vendor presentations
    -Great natural variety supplements

    Cons

    -Vitamine Shoppe killed the culture
-More sales focus than ever now, bottom line rather than wealth of knowledge
-Disproportionate disbursement of wage when comparing upper positions to lower ones

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to turn SUPER SUPPLEMENT into VITAMIN SHOPPE. There was a reason people opted for SS over VS in the 1st place. Keep the disparity.

    Pros

Awesome place to work if you are genuinely interested in health and wellness. Customers are always fun to talk to and you will encounter many who are just as passionate about the industry as you are.

    Cons

Frustrating POS system and meager benefits ruin an otherwise perfect experience.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. You guys are the backbone of the company!

I worked at Super Supplements (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of training not just in the products but in all areas of health and wellness. Store teams are like a 2nd family. the customers are great and lots of local partners like gyms and chiropractors.
The skills learned here will carry you for years anywhere. But you will give up your life to the work if you are a manager. But even then I loved the job.

    Cons

With all company's there are cons, Upper management IE: RDM's are nothing more then a email or your DM's word that they said it as you will almost never see them. I had worked 5 years and only saw mine twice. But that really varies to the market your in. The east coast teams seem far more involved in the stores. I was around during the VS sale and even though so many former members say negative things about the sale, It is way better. You have to understand just how bad these stores ran before. Poor inventory controls, Lazy managers who just sat in the offices all day, and the most of the DM's back then and some who are still around I wouldn't let run a taco bell. But overall a great company.

    Pros

Decent discount, casual environment. Available training.

    Cons

Pay is not really livable. Hired full time but not getting full time hours. Staffing too short to take the training coarse.

    Pros

It was great before the company was bought by Vitamin Shoppe
Ton of cool products and an abundance of knowledge about wellness and supplements

    Cons

    Bad pay
    Terrible management
The company could care less about you
    Very stressful environment
    Gossip between managers and DMs
Schedule is all over the place
Expect to be short staffed all the time

    Advice to Management

Take better care of your employees or you will go out of business

I worked at Super Supplements (More than 5 years)

    Pros

'WAS' a good company when it was owned by the original owner. He treated his company and employees well with appreciation and training. It was satisfying work helping customers with their health concerns and my team members were wonderful, caring people.

    Cons

Vitamin Shoppe bought out the company early 2013 and the culture has never been the same. The company doesn't care about their employees or customers. It's all about sales and cutting costs. The products aren't as good. The company is chasing out old employees with Vitamin Shoppe employees. The employee pay, bonus plan, benefits, discounts, and training has decreased. The only thing increasing is employee turn over.

    Advice to Management

Super Supplements was a leader in the industry for good reason. Vitamin Shoppe should have adopted more of the successful processes, procedures, and culture of Super Supplements. It's sad to watch the deterioration of the company.
