I have been working at Sushi Zushi part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The money is good
    50% off food

    Cons

High turnover, poorly ran restaurant, the GM gossips about employee's to other fellow employees... so unprofessional, I was shocked at some off the things I've heard her tell other employees! I don't know how she still has a job, she is rude and demeaning, she also is very bad when it comes to favoritism unless your a favorite you will close all the time, you will have the worst sections and all her favorites will call in all the time and she won't bat an eye to it, yet I've seen her tear into others when they've called in once in a whole year just because she doesn't like them. It's awful working with her she's always looking for something to yell and scold you for, and the tip out here is absolutely ridiculous! C servers tip out about $50 a night and A servers about $30... way to much money to be giving away when sushi chefs already make really good hourly as it is. Most of the staff here hates their job, and all agree it's not worth the money anymore. We've lost 7 servers in one month.... that should tell corporate something about the way the stone oak location is being ran.

    Advice to Management

Act more professional. Stop playing favorites and giving special treatment to certain employees, be fair across the board. Treat your employees with respect and stop demeaning them. Stop gossiping with other employees, your a GM, act like one

I worked at Sushi Zushi full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great training program. Free food during training.
Great money after 2-3 months, because it takes time to move up to a better section, unless you're just way too good at your job.
For example, the captains will get the best section. Newbies get the section where it takes time to be filled up.
This is a pro, because you are rewarded with a better section based on your performance.

    Cons

A lot of things to memorize on the menu.
Morning shifts are usually terrible for servers.
    Especially Saturday and Sunday mornings.
    Possibly because of the location.

    Pros

I loved working at Sushi Zushi! The SZ family is great, the managers are very patient and helpful, and you receive plenty of training. I started out as a hostess, and then I worked at the to go counter. The managers were great, and worked out a great work schedule with me (I was also taking summer school classes during my time there). You also get half off any food item while on the clock which was great! I learned a lot about customer service and team work while working here

    Cons

    No Cons! Everything was great!

I worked at Sushi Zushi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The employee's are nice, the food is "okay", the work environment can be good, you'll learn a lot if your new, very laid back on discipline, and schedules (which can also be abused)

    Cons

There is a wall for the amount to your paycheck depending on position and responsibilities (e.g. a dish washer who also cooks will get maybe a .50 cent to a $1 raise from his original pay or $9.00), your opinions, suggestions, and criticism mean little to upper employees and upper management. Management only listens to corporate and corporate reacts slowly, irrational, and emotional be very careful of ranting or venting.

    Advice to Management

consider the values and morals of the employee's when hiring, be more assertive on things that must be done ("It's not my job") should not be coming from management. Care more about the restaurants needs rather than the sales & labor.
