    Pros

    They will train anyone is sales or customer service, many companies no longer invest in training. They will take anyone off the street with the right attitude and motivation and train them.Attrition is very high, average tenure 1 year.

    Cons

    Pay is lower than industry average, job requires suit and tie for all inside sales positions, Pay varies greatly by dept, many people work their way up only to be forced into a different job with a change in pay (almost always less) because of the nature of the business (clients come and go)

    Advice to Management

    Do a better job of reducing attrition.

    Pros

    Most programs will place you in customer service roles, which is great if you want to improve 'soft skills' in that area. Also, you have the opportunity to gain a good working knowledge of whatever industry your program involves, be it software marketing, telecommunications, tech support or whatever.
    There is a decent chance of advancement due to high turnover.

    Cons

    You are a machine. You are replacable.

    You will have to bear in mind that this is a company that hires almost everyone, and it shows. Most program level managers I had got where they were through ambition and willingness to work, rather than saintly behavior and kindness to all mankind.

    Advice to Management

    Be more selective in hiring. Be more selective in what companies you consent to work for.

    Pros

    There are a lot of people an you can make some great friends. You also learn about the business world and how everything works.

    Cons

    Thhe pay is rather low (base and commsission)and they have some issues with promoting the right person where they should be.

    Advice to Management

    Really take a look at who you have working for you and see the potential people have. It is very important to put the correct people in the correct position.

    Pros

    They are continuously hiring new employees for their sub-programs (BlackBerry, AT&T, H&R Block etc.)
    You are garunteed full-time hours and occasional O.T
    Employees that are not serious about their jobs are fired in due time. You may think management doesn't pay attention, sometimes employees don't notice until its too late and their getting the BOOT.
     If you are competent and maintain a positive attitude and great work skills, management will be understanding of any situations that may arise (time off, family issues etc.)

    Cons

    Because Sutherland hires in Waves, some employees are not as devoted to their jobs or may bring excess drama to the workplace- makes for a low work morale and affects the work environment.

    Advice to Management

    Although you guys are trying to fufill the demand of your contracts, be more selective in hiring!

    Opportunities to learn

    Managers need to learn how to better coordinate their programs
    Management does not understand the struggles that the employees face , instead they state that employees are not doing their job
    Hiring more professional employees

    Advice to Management

    Keep evolving your management techniques to deal with the increased growth as well as hire more managers; invest more money on your systems, the favoritism needs to stop because it brings the good ones down a notch when they see that

    you are a lot about selling products even if they're not worth the money

    Cons

    too many changes 1 minute you can be technical support the next to be a full fledge cell team they change your schedule too much and promote their friends

    I worked at Sutherland full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Some programs allow overtime. They tend to promote from within (my manager had started in my position 6 years ago and was one of two team managers when I left). If you start in a seasonal position, they will interview you for other programs at the end of your contract. The company has offices on six continents, and will help you relocate to a different country if you accept a position there.

    Cons

    There were rumors that my program had bedbugs, and all they did was switch out the chairs. I didn't receive a consistent schedule post-training for 2-3 weeks. Policies changed frequently but often they never emailed us to inform us that things had changed.

    Advice to Management

    Management needs to have more consistent communication, both between each other and between managers and consultants.

    Got lucky with a great group of people to work with- took initiative and was recognized for my hard work

    Cons

    no upper movement; basic call center

    Advice to Management

    stop hiring anybody and everybody so that you dont have to treat your employees like they are just there to pick up the phone
