I worked at Sutter Care at Home part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Loved working with my patients and doing home care visits. Lots of hands on care: assessments, wound care, blood draws, teaching on multiple health conditions.

    Cons

Biggest challenge was meeting the productivity requirement and completing required charting without compromising patient care or losing my sanity.

    Advice to Management

There has to be a balance between productivity and good patient care.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Sutter Care at Home full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits/insurance, good team of nurses, chaplains and social workers

    Cons

Inept and inexperienced middle managers at the office who lack the clinical experience to support clinicians out on the field. No support offered and nurses are bombarded with heavy caseloads and often chart off the clock. These managers bully and harass the nurses who do not meet productivity needs of the company so patient care/acuity levels for each case is not important. Getting their numbers/census up is more important than staff retention or staff safety especially for the night on-call nurses who have to go out in the middle of the night to see patients. Nurses go work somewhere else where you are supported, respected and valued.

    Advice to Management

Cannot provide feedback to a group that will listen to only what can make them more money. For a "non-profit" company it seems the "profit" side is what they are really interested in.

I have been working at Sutter Care at Home full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Mobility, flexibility, pension, free healthcare for dependent, different areas or locations to transfer to if you need to move or get bored. If you're an internal

    Cons

Drama. Depending on the position, there can be a lack of training. It can be difficult to get rid of someone even if they're u safe or terrible

I have been working at Sutter Care at Home full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most co-workers are awesome. My hours are great. My commute is good. The task I do everyday is interesting and I love.

    Cons

The management does not know anything about what I do on a daily basis bust mos importantly of all, and the thing that may force me leave even though I don't want to because I love my job, is the fact that new hires are being brought on at a higher pay than experienced long term employees , even if they have no previous experience in health care or with what we do.even temps are earning more!. Some of the experienced staff have been there since the department started in 2013! It is unfair and disrespectful!

    Advice to Management

Treat your experience employees that have helped build the department with respect and give them the same wage as new employees! If you say as a company you value your employees...prove it!

I worked at Sutter Care at Home (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility, independence, variety of cases and geography. Fast reimbursement for travel expenses,

    Cons

No support as a mental health provider. When the nurse says it's over, it's over, no professional development outside of medical concerns, no collegiality

    Advice to Management

Not everybody is or wants to be a nurse
