    Pros

    Excellent rehab and nursing staff

    Cons

    Heavy top down management style

    Advice to Management

More clinical staff involvement in changes and program development. Utilize expertise from home health clinicians for ongoing education and professional development.

I worked at Sutter Care at Home full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I worked for Sutter Hospice for many years as a hospice aide. Great group of people to work with. Everyone has great respect and admiration for each other's work. Pto is granted more often than not. Excellent health and dental coverage. Thankful for the opportunity to work in the hospice field.

    Cons

Productivity standards are unrealistic for hospice aides. No work/life balance. Management does not always listen when hospice aides request assistance with high acuity patients. Traveling around San Francisco to see 6 patients and adjusting your schedule to accommodate patients, can be very demanding at times.

    Advice to Management

Work/life balance= energized loyal employee. You are in the business of caring for the vulnerable and terminally ill, so stop thinking $$$ all the time. In order to provide quality care for your patients, you must decrease productivity standards for the aides. Patients and their families will appreciate it and this will result in more positive customer surveys.

I worked at Sutter Care at Home full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

SCAH does have some of the best nurses I have worked with and innovative programs not seen in most Home Health Programs

    Cons

The leadership here is like a chicken with it's head copped off. they are running in circles.
They will step over a dollar to pick up a dime.
Decisions are knee jerk and go one way then another.
it is as if they do not really know that the decisions they make in their little meetings, actually affect peoples lives.

I worked at Sutter Care at Home part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Loved working with my patients and doing home care visits. Lots of hands on care: assessments, wound care, blood draws, teaching on multiple health conditions.

    Cons

Biggest challenge was meeting the productivity requirement and completing required charting without compromising patient care or losing my sanity.

    Advice to Management

There has to be a balance between productivity and good patient care.

I worked at Sutter Care at Home full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits/insurance, good team of nurses, chaplains and social workers

    Cons

Inept and inexperienced middle managers at the office who lack the clinical experience to support clinicians out on the field. No support offered and nurses are bombarded with heavy caseloads and often chart off the clock. These managers bully and harass the nurses who do not meet productivity needs of the company so patient care/acuity levels for each case is not important. Getting their numbers/census up is more important than staff retention or staff safety especially for the night on-call nurses who have to go out in the middle of the night to see patients. Nurses go work somewhere else where you are supported, respected and valued.

    Advice to Management

Cannot provide feedback to a group that will listen to only what can make them more money. For a "non-profit" company it seems the "profit" side is what they are really interested in.

I have been working at Sutter Care at Home full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Mobility, flexibility, pension, free healthcare for dependent, different areas or locations to transfer to if you need to move or get bored. If you're an internal
    Candidate, you're guaranteed an interview

    Cons

Drama. Depending on the position, there can be a lack of training. It can be difficult to get rid of someone even if they're u safe or terrible
