I have been working at Sutter Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good medical benefits
    Good healthcare providers
    Good locations

    Cons

    Poor upper management/leadership
Human resources unhelpful and protecting company; employees don't feel safe to report
    Culture of alienation, not collaboration

    Advice to Management

Focus on developing talent & a better culture from the bottom up. Think about the happiness of employees as a necessary condition to providing good care to patients which increases your bottom line. Empower junior staff through engaging with them and taking them into consideration. Empower departments to work together through better leadership and a communicated vision. Ask for more feedback from all staff.

I have been working at Sutter Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Talented providers. Good reputation somehow.

    Cons

Every department in the East Bay, and maybe Northern California, is understaffed. There is usually only one person responsible for one aspect of everything in Northern California, causing major bottlenecks to projects. Treatment of staff is very arbitrary and managers are allowed to get away with frankly disgusting treatment of employees and teams. Employees have to assert their rights are they are disrespected, repeatedly. I do not know how this hospital is functioning as much as it is still.

    Advice to Management

You are making some mistakes on the East Bay campus. Patient care is suffering from you understaffing tactics and it feels like you're running it into the ground

I worked at Sutter Health (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Team work environment, not a difficult job. It's pretty simple. Kind of a waste of money. They should just make the PC's all PM's.

    Cons

Policies need to change. Also, upward mobility needs to be better. They have no "Future" plans for people, just a number on a piece of paper.

    Advice to Management

    Have a long term plan

I worked at Sutter Health (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for training and advancement with contract roles. Good pay. Able to have flexible schedules. Lots of growth coming up. On top of industry standards in technology for the most part.

    Cons

They rely too much on hiring contractors rather than bringing talented candidates on permanently with full benefits. We have ourselves and families to take care of. HR not up to current standards in some regions.

    Advice to Management

Hire people on permanently full time. Holding several repeat contract roles is exhausting and frustrating.

    Pros

Culture of Excellence is expected, Benefits and compensation are great, Ability to climb in leadership roles, great work/life balance.

    Cons

There really aren't much cons to say about this wonderful organization. It is currently going through restructuring, that will benefit the company.

    Advice to Management

Continue to instill the culture of excellence and vision of We Plus You.

I have been working at Sutter Health as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

People and opportunities. If you are a hard worker it is recognized.

    Cons

Pay to their LTE/FTE staff is less than standard with other competitors.

    Advice to Management

Management and Supervisors should take a class or two on communicating with their staff... Although this has improved significantly, sometimes we let emotions run our meetings and it should not be this way.

I have been working at Sutter Health as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great team, smiling co-workers. Positive air in the office (sac metro building)

    Cons

There seems to be a lot of silos and a lot of red tape. Also, processes (and those that are not followed) are out of control

    Advice to Management

Before processes are mandated, but able to explain why the process is being created and what the value-add is.
