I worked at Sutter Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Great benefits, long term employees

    Cons

Long term employees act like DMV employees. Lazy workers, no extra effort to succeed in the job. They just cruise along until they retire.

    Advice to Management

Need to have some yearly, maybe every 3 years, re-evaluation of employees. If they are not up to their job, they get demoted.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Sutter Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, benefits good-but have been better

    Cons

CEO and Senior Leadership of SMF sucks! CEO likes to think she listens to employees but in reality, she doesn't. People, including her direct reports are afraid of her and won't challenge her on decisions - no matter how bad her decision making is. Get rid of her! She is destroying SMF

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the CEO - she is destroying the company. Just look at EOW and Physician Satisfaction scores!

I worked at Sutter Health part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Salaries., locations, nurses, CPMC, and new buildings

    Cons

Not one hospital has a Nurse Magnet designation. Not enough effort placed on raising nursing to it's highest potential. Nursing is on it's own. Inconsistent administration from one arm of organization to another. Retirement plan is lousy.

    Advice to Management

Listen, listen and drop the over inflated ego.

I worked at Sutter Health full-time

    Pros

Benefits, the patients, lunches and breakfast we get from the drug reps.

    Cons

Animosity between back and front office. Supervisor plays favorite to a certain receptionist. Everyone sees it even the floats. I have worked in other departments within Sutter and never have I worked in a group who are against each other. If the team does not learn how to help each other and realize they're all in it together the work environment will never change. It is not a good work environment. Over all Sutter is a great company to work for but not at the Dale road clinic.

I worked at Sutter Health full-time

    Pros

Lots of learning. Nice people. If you get on at Sutter it's a good thing. They have excellent benefits. It depends on if you work in IS or other parts of Sutter. Mather IS and the EHR team will eat you alive.

    Cons

Lack of understanding about how I do customer service. Do not understand people's disabilities especially hearing loss. Human Resource is a joke. More about superficial issues than about how someone really does their job.

    Advice to Management

Give more mentorship to your new managers and don't let their partners decide how to work with subordinates

I have been working at Sutter Health full-time

    Pros

    - Great benefits: Almost free medical/dental/vision, tuition reimbursement, 403b & 401k, employee discounts, PTO, etc
    - Lots of room for upward mobility and department transfers
    - Lower management does everything they can to help staff meet their goals
    - Starting pay is $21/hr, pay cap is $34/hr
    - Daily training time, which can be extended if requested.

    Cons

    - Upper management makes executive decisions without adhering to input from the Service Desk staff and lower management (Although, they'll always be happy to listen to concerns.)
    - Very high turnover
    - Pay is non-negotiable.
    - If you are good at your job you will be given more responsibility with no fiscal compensation.

    Advice to Management

Lower management: Keep on keepin' on
Upper management: Listen to your staff or turnover will continue to be high and service quality will continue to drop.
