    Pros

Excellent company to start with. Decent pay, good benefits, nice overall job once you finish the mentor program!

    Cons

Do NOT sign up to be an owner operator. I have only heard bad things about it.

I have been working at Swift Transportation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Front Camera could be helpful in the event of a collision at no fault of the driver.

    Cons

The Driver Cam films the Driver in the cab while driving when prompted/signaled. This Enables staff to make fun of the Driver when watching film and a hazard occurs, forcing the driver to brake hard or swerve to avoid a collision.

    Advice to Management

A poorly maintained truck, having faulty brakes, tires and traction control systems causes the driver camera to go off. Stop blaming the Driver for your own negligence.

The Driver cam has turned into a tool used to make fun of drivers when we experience road hazards in your faulty and poorly maintained trucks, then, the film is used to fire good drivers.

Picture a flight attendant scolding and reprimanding a Commercial Airline Pilot in the baggage claim area after a turbulent flight at no fault of the Pilot.

I worked at Swift Transportation (Less than a year)

    Pros

Swift had a great training program to obtain CDL. The instructors and the other students were just great and I felt right at home.

    Cons

The driver mentors weren't great. My mentor -- not great. He was a screamer that kept me on edge all the time. Not great as a partner either. He left me at a truck stop all night while he met with someone of the female persuasion.

    Advice to Management

Ask new drivers that are with mentors to anonymously rate them, in knowledge, in temperament, a good role model, a good company man.

I worked at Swift Transportation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is an easy process to be approved to become an owner op with swift and the ability to move up once you are there.

    Cons

The actual milage for owner op does not go up from being a company driver. There is no definition of whether you are an employee or an independent contractor, it depends on the situation you are in that day.

    Advice to Management

Needs to explain in better detail the prices it cost to become an owner operator.

I have been working at Swift Transportation full-time

    Pros

Friendly and approachable staff. I was able to have all my questions answered and was not given any false expectations by my recruiter or the orientation facilitator.

    Cons

The only downsides are probably inherent in any starter trucking company. It's a start out pay scale, but food for getting valuable experience toward furthering your career.
