    Pros

Ownership is fair, for the most part, opportunities are there to advance if you devote the time to chase them. Benefits are fair.

    Cons

Long hours and huge workload, having to stay longer to complete job tasks. Work life balance isn't there, at least at some locations

I have been working at Swiss Chalet part-time

    Pros

Early closing times which is good for me with my University schedule. 50 % discount when working on certain menu items.
20% off for you and up to 7 guests when dining in restaurant.

    Cons

    1. Weekly schedule so you can't plan appointments further than a week in advance without risking not having it off.
    2. The 50% off when working only applies to certain items, usually not the items that you want.
    3. Way too much is expected of servers. From seating our own tables to bussing them to cleaning the whole restaurant after a shift, rolling silverware, stocking the entire restaurant and STILL being expected to get out of the door fast enough to save the owner money. We also make all the drinks, make salads to order for customers, make all the desserts, and run all the food because the boss doesn't want to pay more people to do it.
    4. Not enough servers on shift sometimes.
    5. Servers are not allowed to clock in until we receive our first table, which could be an hour or two after we are scheduled, so we sit there unpaid for hours. (Is this really legal?)
    6. They need to better train hosts to alternate seating each server.
    7. Inconsistent scheduling. One week you'll have 4 shifts, the next week you'll have 1.
    8. Even if a new server was scheduled before a long-time server, they will let the older server start first when I've been sitting there for thirty minutes waiting.
    9. Sometimes, when servers have to seat their own tables, the servers that have worked there longer will double, triple, even quadruple seat themselves without seating the others. Definitely not fair.
    10. There could be much better team work. If I'm not available to run my food to my table, you shouldn't just let it sit there, run it! I see managers sitting there watching food die in the window while I'm running my butt off trying to cater to my guests, yet they get mad at me.

    Advice to Management

Read my cons and figure it out.
